Hello guys,

LPS is planning to promote some things at the first weekend of every month. March will be the first try. and the first item will be:

And why is it not suitable for burning? 1 watt should be sufficient to leave a few scorch marks around the house.

My guess is this 1 watt pointer (or 950 mw) will a direct 520 nm diode, not DPSS, not for that price. What diameter is the collimation lens?

I mean compare with blue laser. green laser is good at brightness, blue laser is good at burning.

I'm sorry that forget to mention the wavelength, yes it's 520nm diode. the host of the lens is 9mm.

9 mm is better than 6 mm with this diode, divergence might be below 2 mRad, depending how much diameter of that lens is used. What is its focal length? From that I can get an idea, do you have the divergence number?

9mm is the diameter of the whole lens component, as i can't separate the it, so don't know the exact diameter of the lens. the hole of it is 5mm. and other data i've got is: 3.6mrad, and spot size is 4mm and <20mm at 10m.

the data need to confirm, and i'm not sure if my thought is right, that people can use better lens to improve the performance? and when you have the core thing, which is the 1w 520nm laser, then you can DIY or add something on it.

here is the difference between 1w (left) and 80mw (right)

OK, divergence is too high for me, I like 1.2 mRad or lower. Needs beam expander to get that.

I agree. Or a longer focal length pcx lens. I wonder if there's enough room to set a cylindrical fast axis lens and the longer focal length pcx?

I bet they are using a generic host, would need a redesign.

Copy cats! For these multimode diodes, I’m surprised everyone is still using those small 6.3 mm adpheric lenses because the divergence is so bad with those you can’t put a spot on a cloud base, 2.5 mRad and above are too wide after a few hundred feet, needs to be no greater than 1.5 mRad for a 3,000 to 5,000 ft cloud base, but much better at 1.2, might seem like not much difference, but it is. I suppose it isn’t a big deal if all you want it for is close in, lots of people don’t care about divergence, they just want to see a pretty beam coming out the end, or burn. To each their own.

Nothing to my Optobeast, but if you like JL PLE-Pro host (and maybe cannot afford original) and/or wish to have cheapo laser, why not? Still the beamspecs are not really what I would go for - anyway nice "flashlight". :D
