The Audio Thread

I should note that I do often listen to the Dual Triode amp I built, but I don't use it for serious listening since it has directly heated cathodes and there is audible 60hz hum.

Home hi/fi is my way to unwind
Denon AVR2307ci
B&W DM602's
B&W CC6

audio nut here too

Yamaha RX-V1900 for amp .. may look to upgrade this
Paradigm Studio 60 v5 for front
Paradigm Signature c3 for centre
Paradigm Studio 20's for rear
2x Velodyne SPL-1200 Ultras for Bass .. thinking about buying a Paradigm Sub 2 to replace with

That is my bedroom setup in a 12x12ft bedroom, its what i use to activate my laser projectors sound mode lol.

Portable audio im using Yamaha Pro 500's with a Firestone Audio Fireye Mini+ portable amplifier

Car is running Boston Acoustics Pro Rally x 6" components with 1" dome tweeters, with 2x DD 3515's , components are fed by an ampline v12 amp and the subwoofers are each fed by e-audio 1000wrms monoblocks in an enclosure that takes up my entire boot with a 6" port, its an SPL rather than SQL , last metering was 148.2DB in Pro Class A soundoff!

Any suggestions in terms of upgrading the bedroom amplifier ? the thing is most amps these days come with multi zone room and all bells and whistles ... whereas i do NOT watch movies .. its purely for gaming and music .. so im thinking a 5 channel poweramp might be a better alternative .. just not sure.

Just got me a new set of speakers for the car. I wanted to try the new Flax cone midbass but they don't have spares yet so I bought a set just to use the midbass :p I can use the tweeters with the old mids in another car though.

New to the forum and I am somewhat of an audio nut myself. I do home theater for my work and I have a small car stereo hobby.

Installed but not complete. Sits on a platform and on the front is my crescendo audio bc3500d amp and the other side has my crescendo audio c1100.4 for the doors. Under the platform houses 2 Xs power d3400 batteries and 1 Xs power s3400 under the hood. Stock 145 amp alternator.

Some sound deadening on the roof. A must have.

Didn't have any door photos yet. Plus they look like crap atm since I had to rig them a little. But that's the speakers that are in them. Crescendo pwx6s and ft1 super tweets.

I'll toss some more up here later that are more clear.

Yes, they sound pretty good and I paired them with my TC90s and it is a very good match. The brown cone look does need a bit of getting used to though :p

FLAC vs 320Kbps MP3... can you guys tell the difference? :D

I'm no audiophile and I only have entry level headphones but I can tell a slight difference. There is more detail in FLAC but for everyday listening, the added file size keeps me from using it.

Main stereo system consists of a pair of dbx SF1 speakers run off a QSC CX702 at 700W/ch RMS. May switch it back to the dbx BX-3 Mk!! though. Most of the rest of the equipment on this system is dbx such as 120x-ds, cx2, 500xr etc..
Second stereo system is dbx SF10 speakers with Phase Linear and dbx components.

Have a VERY wide range of components consisting of old and new technology although only 1 tube amp which someone gave me. Well over 50 pieces in just amps and receivers;)
Yup, been at this game a long time:)

If I listen with headphones I prefer my Sony MDR-V6

Just wanted to share the most expensive thing that sat on my workbench. Each one costs more than my car.

These came in for repair. Only one is defective, the other one was sent along just so that I can use for comparison when checking voltages.

As luck would have it, I had the blown parts in stock in my workshop. :) Now it's working again.
