I generally like Trump but all this bickering always makes me wish there was a third party possibility. We all know that's never gonna happen in the USA.

Not this cycle and probably not the next, but who knows in the future..... really our 2 party system is part of our balance or so I've read, but a 3 party system could be even better for keeping the other 2 better in check.

Presidents have to be immune while in office, otherwise they would be powerless to do
their duty without fear or reprisal which would make a President too easily manipulated, this is not a new concept.
That concept is OK and I think part of every constitution.

We disagree about "their duty". If whatever he does is part of the "official government business he was elected to do", then it's OK.

He could not stroll along with a machine gun and kill people as he likes. The concept of "governmental immunity" would not cover that.

And we obviously strongly disagree whether his "personal business" is part of his "government business" and whether encurraging his supporters to run the capitol, for a coup d'état and a violent takeover can be part of the "presidential business" that is covered by the immunity.

Most people would call that treason and at least lock the man away for the next 1000 years, as THIS IS A DIRECT ATTACK ON DEMOCRACY that the US are sooo proud of.

Trump never encouraged anyone to 'violently' storm the capitol as you people like to put it. (the only real violence was the SS killing an innocent protester). Period. The entire January 6 debacle is political theater and simply a witch hunt seeking to demonize Trump and every supporter of his. I understand that isn't what CBS/NBC/CNN/BBC are telling you so that's tough to understand, but the facts still exist in spite of media mouthpieces.

BS paul, I told you Presidents have to be immune while in office, otherwise they would be powerless to do
their duty without fear or reprisal which would make a President too easily manipulated, this is not a new concept.

Trump will be president in 2025 and you know it, you might as well stop lying to yourself now and find a way to live with it, because Trump is coming back, he's coming back paul and there's not enough lies you can tell to stop him now.

Of course presidents are immune from prosecution while in office. But, that's not what the SCOTUS said. They are basically granting him immunity after he leaves. We have always been a country of the rule of law, not one of the law of rulers. Good luck with Trump. You are sure gonna need it.

I believe the alternate slate of electorates is easily one of the biggest tipping points in the entire Jan 6 nonsense, Pence failed democracy when he rejected them. An alternate slate of electorates is a tactic that's been used before, in official capacity to settle an election.
Official acts as president carry immunity.

There are charges against many people for that scheme. Rudy Giuliani lost his law license today, he was disbarred, and Trump has been charged in this scheme as well. That was not an official act for Trump. Presidents don't oversee election results. Those are left to the states.

Judge Juan Merchan has moved sentencing of Trump to September 18th. This is so Trump can try to appeal his conviction since the new SCOTUS ruling. Many of these charges were outside of his presidency. Prosecutors said they were okay with this delay.

Pretty impressive that Trump could be granted complete immunity for the worst thing he’s done and still be a convicted felon on 34-counts for something else. He’s very good at collecting felonies. Maybe the best, quite frankly

Yes, many of his former compadres are convicted felons as well. I seriously doubt he'll get off from his NY conviction. They are going to let him try, though.

Oh, no. He's more like the innocent Don Vito Corleone, an honorable man by his own definition:
There are things that have to be done and you do them and you never talk about them.

There is a reason why "regrettable individual cases" always cluster around the same people. If I watch a swarm of flies, I know where they are heading and why. I don't have to smell the sh*t by myself do be certain.

You can easily judge people by their "friends".

Wow so you're just fully on board with ignoring the will of the people then and making up electors to give the result you want eh?

A few other thoughts. Trump a good business man? You mean the guy who bankrupted a casino, and who tried selling steaks for $50 on the sharper image? Lol.

These recent court decisions set a dangerous and bad precedent. I hope they come back to bite a republican in the butt, and I bet they will. How long before corporations are free to put wood pulp in the meat or whatever else they want to do because our regulatory agencies are hamstrung by courts and partisan judges who know dick about a given industry or its impacts on people and the environment. Who knows? Maybe soon our rivers will be lighting on fire again. Anything to make an extra buck am I right?

I remember years ago reading about a river in Chicago's industrial district that was so polluted it caught fire on a regular basis back at the turn of the last century. Thank you EPA for stopping that.

I'm glad to see that the Biden administration has secured another $1.3 billion in aid for the Ukrainians. Good for Joe Biden.
