Has the Short Open Can (SOC) diode been discontinued. If not then maybe we should alter the designation of this one to SmOC (Small Open Can) to avoid confusion.
Peace,
dave
It's your choice, let me know and I'll add it as SmOC.

Looks like you're kissing them ..... (SmOoCh, LOL)
Seriously speaking, Dave, have you already made some survival tests for them ? ..... i mean, if you already have an idea about how much they can survive at that maximum power and current, or if your test was "increasing til the dead" type .....
I'm wondering if these units can be used for make a pen-style unit, powered from a pair of 10440 and a linear driver ..... just wondering.
I didn't do any long term testing of them. I only had three and I destroyed one when my (5.6mm) tool slipped pressing this 3.6mm diode into the heat sink. Their profile is very similar to the long crystal diodes we use now (LOC & LCC). I will run them significantly below the limit for those diodes in my 7-color builds.
I would think that these would work just fine in a pen laser. They did NOT produce the level of heat that the LOC and LCC diodes do.
Unless we find these in a DVD burner somewhere, I don't think we will be using these much. I'm not buying a $215 BD 8X burner (Pioneer) when I can buy a $170 BD 8X burner (LG). The LG has a different (flat, plastic) red/IR diode in it.
Peace,
dave

Are you testing a 3mm diode right now? What are you using? Why do you ask?
The module is the least of the problems because as I have posted elsewhere, I machine my own adapters for the Aixiz. The lens I'm using is more important to the power output.
This is why we need an experimenter's forum -- Specific to new diodes and technology.

I turn a small aluminum adapter ring in my lathe so I can press it all together in an Aixiz and maintain the center line. Do you have a lathe?
I think if you use a Jayrob 650-G-1 red lens, your power reading will be very close to mine. Remember too that our meters may not read quite the same.
Right now, I'm more interested in the power and curve than the mounting.
