I am getting sick of all the whiny threads about how someone lost a rep point.

This goes out to everyone who has recently posted one of these threads: Instead of whining about how you got a rep point "unfairly" taken away, TAKE IT TO PM's. You will be surprised how much more you can accomplish by doing this; posting whiny annoying threads about this only perpetuates the problem and spreads more dislike.

You people(addressed to the "offenders") bit**ing about a lost rep point doesn't do squat. There's about 2-3 treads of "omg, someone de-repped me!!! ppl, plz gimme my reps back"... If you feel the negative rep was unfair, take it up with the person who gave it to you.

I feel as if rep points should only be given out in the case of a business transaction/useful piece of information to the forum. The rep system is the closet thing we have to a feedback system, and it should be used to monitor how reliable a member was during a transaction.

i agree. the rep system is highly abused just b/c you dont like someone or something about someone. its childish to do that in IMO... grow up, accept stuff for what it is and stop -repping people for childish crap.

You know how to solve this? Make it so you can only give positive rep, or take away a positive rep point you previously gave someone. No negative repping.

The really good people will still have the most rep points, and we won't get into all the arguments. Problem solved You can still give a 'negative rep' but you don't actually take away their rep point, you just write something negative in their rep page.

And if someone is being a nuisance of untrustworthy in deals or something, then if they make a thread the good members of the forums will come and make clear the situation that he may be untrustworthy to other users, and direct them to their rep page.


But as an alternative viewpoint...

I like watching people argue, it's funny. And I think we all do, as long as they don't infringe on our own business. So as long as they don't hijack other threads and they keep it in the 'Other' section, then I have no problem with it Fight Fight Fight!!!

a.k.a. if you need to care about rep points, that's sad - because they are meaningless when anyone can give them for any reason. They are just a game that some people play. I see that I have 16; others have nearly 10 times as many. So what?

You sir, care way too much about something worth nothing... If you were a scammer, your rep would reflect it. If you are just the victim of an overzealous neg repper, your rep would again reflect it... IMO, if you were given negative rep for some stupid nonsensical reason, I'm pretty sure most people would ignore it...

There are ony 3 main thing I care about.
1. The next time my noodle gets wet.
2. What time is dinner?
3. Were the hell are my laser parts!!!
