Star Trek TOS Phaser's Laser Modded For Sale..

My phaser build used an ole ebay green 532 laser with like maybe 100mw lol. But.... It was a total pain to drill out that plastic bit but I did it with a cordless drill by hand!!!! With the ole start small and continuously use a bigger bit I made a hole that the laser could make it out through without hitting the sides!!!! But I must admit, it was an absolute total fluke!!!! I just took the leads for the bulb off and hollowed out the inside enough to put in the cheap ebay green module! I kept everything bone stock even the two aa batteries for power! Even the sound worked!!! Like I said total fluke but the beam comes out perfectly in line with the phaser. I know it would be near impossible for me to build a working second unit the same way.

Heay, if it weren't for unexpected good results many lasers I built when new to putting diodes into handheld hosts would never have happened at all. :ROFLMAO:

Fantastic! My hat is off to your ingenuity!

Been awhile GSS . I bought the MO2 520 1.8A GBALL from you . It has served me well, but no sound is being produced now. Batteries are still good. Any helpful advice on a fix?

What was the problem?
It just needed separate battery's for the sound. 3 "44" button cells that are inside the host phaser.
The 2 "10440's" in the handle are for the laser. Originally this toy used 2 "AAA's in the handle for the sound.

I thought of running the sound by jumping of the laser battery's but the sound board and contacts are kinda fraggle and I didn't want to over heat them or pull the contacts off with the extra soldering.

Bad batteries hardly seem like much of a problem. That would have been the first thing most people would check.

He thought the batterys in the handle were for both the laser and sound which were fully charged.
He didn't know about the ones inside for the sound.
Just to mention he said the sound just stopped working instead of slowly getting weaker. That kinda worried me as the sound board isn't the best..

IDK. It may be that the sound board has a voltage regulator on it. If the supply drops enough it could easily just stop working. If you have a schematic I could look at it and tell you why.

The best I can do is take out the sound board from a phaser toy I haven't touch yet and show you pictures of it.

Paul I tried wicked hard for a month to find and try and buy these specific sound boards back when I was modding them with lasers.
The toy brand is "Rubies" and the company started as a walk in toy and candy and Halloween store named Rubies, from the beginning in 1951 I think?
Some where down the line they really grew into a big online prop selling store. I found the companys websights and even messaged them a few times and asked where they have the boards manufactured telling them I bought 10 of toy Phasers and I lied and said on 4 of them the sound didn't work.
I searched online with every number printed on the board and still nothing.

Of course they never got back which I had a feeling they wouldn't.
The only thing I found were the replacement speakers. The speakers are generic RoHS used on alot of toys.
I even search Ali Express's?? sound board sight but they only seemed to have boards that record sounds.

Yeah, I guess that's usually the case. I was just thinking if you did have a schematic I could figure it out for you.

Paul I believe its just a voltage sound board.
The round silver thing is just a cheap foil switch..

There is nothing at all on the back, you can't even see thin copper lines which I think are sandwiched between that back board that is added for stiffness..
