Spectrometer f/s

hakzaw1 I just might take you up on the offer of free laser metering. I have a couple of Reds, a 4x, and 2 PHR's that I would like to meter. Greg at StoneTek can do it as well, but you'll have the spectrometer soon! I can guesstimate based on the current, but since I don't know how efficient the Diodes are it will always just be a close guess.

Maybe we can meet with a few other members north of houston for an afternoon/evening of swapping lasers and lies etc-- 'Displaser' lives there and is a walking encyclopedia on lasers- having built his own RGB projector. I'd love to see it. I met him at SELEM but it was not done yet.
any LEM of two or moar is a good LEM. We can go in on a suite at the Holiday Inn express and lase away in thier conference room for free. $100 per nite- sleeps 4 and free breakfast too.

That sounds like a great idea. Lets try to work something out for the middle of January if that works for You.
 
He cant travel with ALL his lasers anyway-- we would have to go to him lol

BUT ya never know- MrWilling, Larry,et al are in DFW. maybe we can find a place in between and have a larger LEM. I just got a mini camper to stay in and haul my laser stuff. frickin LEM on wheels. There a bunch of members around central and south Tx.

and a few more in Austin and San Antone too.

I'm surprised and pleased with how many members live in and around Texas. A regional meet should be planned one day in a central location, and try to have as many members attend as possible.

You need to start planning to attend SELEM- Aug 19-22-- but know this-- its all about full color projectors/shows and nada about handhelds- lots of SS and gas to be seen and enjoyed- huge swap meet- great food and PHOTONS galore--prolly a dozen+ LPMs - help with repairs and troublshooting for all lasers- meet a lot of big names from all the forums-- and not really all that expensive for what you get in return.

SELEM afaik is always held in NC(newton)- Buffo has found what may be the perfect venue- big theater with balcony- large stage - they rent scaffolding and you get to sit in front of dozens of full color projectors all synced together for a private show.

They have added an extra day for the 2011 event- there were ~ 70 attendees in 2010 and it grows in number and quality each year. Great BBQ -swell swap meet- and a great bunch of guys to meet and greet. Several brought projects in various stages of compleation and they all got help while they were there. Many super doorprizes are given out. I won a dual combiner!!- 250$ value. Free software was offered to attendees-I got spaghetti-- thanks to John Yayas.

The only neg(besides the 17hr drive) is that its hard to see all and do all in such a short time. See the many LEM vids on utube-- MrWilling just put up a few new ones from SELEM 2010.--EYECANDY!!!
 
Hak We moved from Charlotte in November of 2009, and I have 2 Granddaughters still there. Can You say Combo trip!
 
CAR POOL -ROAD TRIP!!!- splitting the cost of gas make the trip a cake walk-I have a new mini camper that is a tad too large for my car to haul that far, so.... if anyone wants to meet up with a few others in Central Texas and has a bigger tow vehicle we would have a 'private office' parked in the venue lot.

Or just carpool.

The Holiday Inn Express is 'after hours party-central' and only a short drive from the venue- A suite spilt 4 ways there is only 25$ each per night-free breakfast too.

I would like to leave at a time that gets us there early in the morning the day before the event starts. This way we can help more with the set-up. These events dont happen without a LOT of work. I want to do my share. Last year I helped Mophead with the BBQ. We had enough to feed all for lunch for two days. All attendees get swell knit polo shirts with the SELEM logo monogramed on it. It was included with the 40$ fee. Owning a projector is not necessary... but be forewarned--- you will not be happy without one after you leave SELEM. Simple 1.5 W 445nm ttl one color projectors can be built for very little.

I know that this was like a month ago but I live in the DFW area too! I would be down for any laser related flash mob.
