I use 1/8"X1/16", I bought mine on Amazon or you can buy them from Bob Lazar here: https://www.unitednuclear.com and many other places also sell them.

Ah, you know Lazar. United Nuclear and Information Unlimited are two of my old time favorites. I tried to reach Lazer recently but couldn't get a hold of him. They have nice CO2 tubes

Hi,
Some folks use magnets, i use a solder blob on some flat tops.
But being that you need to fill in space, Go the way PI mentioned thats the way to go. He won't steer you wrong..

Andrew, I've bought neodymium magnets from K & J Magnetics, which is a neat place to just look around. I've also even found some at the local Home Depot on occasion.

It depends on some things such as thickness to not make the connection between the batteries and spring too tight and the diameter depending upon the spring or battery connection. You don't want the battery to touch the host wall. Most of the time I just need a really thin one just to take up very little space.
I've bought them from Fasttech (China is on long holiday right now though), Amazon, Harbor Freight and ebay plus saved them from taking apart various things such as electronic toothbrush head and sleds that I was harvesting a diode from.
The most recent ones I purchased were:

It is pretty coincidental that the last couple of topics that I've posted about have the "Depot" in common; I actually don't get there that often.
They probably wouldn't appreciate me taking their innocent pen light, gutting it, and turning it into a potential terrorist tool, aka a laser.
I suppose we could always market it as a survival tool!

Didn't realize that that Ebay seller didn't have anymore in stock The 8x1mm size is really nice but I would like to also find some 5 or 4x1mm since I build a lot using 10440 in pens.

build a Gauss gun Pman..... Those magnet remind me of those time where aligning those magnet in line along a ruler and glue those magnet in place and put metal balls between the magnet and bam....

I know we sometimes use neo magnets as battery spacers, well I like to stretch O-rings around my magnet to make certain it cant shift if knocked around and ground to case.
You can get an assortment on ebay, they are useful in builds in other ways as well.
