Something i would like to ask.

I hope i am posting this in the right section.I am a new member and i am interesting in laser pointers.I saw a video in youtube with someone taking the laser pointer from the inner of a broken CD-ROM and creating a really powerfull laser.Any idea of how can i make one or instructions?Is it possible?Do you know where can i get a laser burner from that can burn objects?

I guess you can do the same with playstation 3-2-1 ( i guess the laser pointer is more powerfull there)... well i don't like talking random stuff cuz probably there are way more experts than me...
Edit: Anything , no idea whats the most powerfull handmade laser.Actually plastics ...

You guys need to use the search function.. and have a look around the red laser section. Both of your questions have been answered many times before.

I'll give you a little bit of a start though..

If you're looking to make a burning laser from an optical drive, you need either a DVD-RW drive or a BD-RW drive. CD-ROMs and CD-RW drives only contain infrared invisible lasers.. DVDs and Blu-Ray burners contain high-powered visible red and/or purple lasers.

welcome to this forum Yes it is possible in fact you should ask people on this

{where a blue ray is at} ..blurays are diodes that make a black light looking laser

{purplish}..I would suggust asking my frend Daugin..hes on my freinds list so you should

send him a request .Im possitive he will properly explain the whole process ..I am still

kinda new when it comes to sodering stuff..Srorry dont no much just a newbie.

The information here lays everything out pretty basically, but yes you need to have some basic knowledge about electronics.

Not only knowledge but you need also tools. A soldering iron is a must.

You don't need any prior knowledge or skills if you're willing to learn by breaking things rather than doing more research. It's like learning that a stove is hot by touching it rather than accepting advice that it is indeed hot.

I would read a bit more before you attempt to build your first laser, especially because the parts aren't cheap, and even if they were, reading guides is still cheaper.
