That said, a more recent Toshiba drive I disassembled did have a low power standard diode with dual IR/Red functionality, so maybe this one has something like that.

It most likely does. The one I'm offering is from a Toshiba laptop that I bought in December of 2010.

It could be a good thing, im not sure where Eitan got his g2's. I have some I ordered from china, $7 ea. DTR's are $30 I think.
I'm thinking you may get a bite at around $40 for your package. Sorry things worked out for you the way they did. Our hobby will take a while to recover from the Eitan experience.

Price reduction! Everything (laser, batteries, charger, DVD RW drive) for $40 plus shipping. That's a firm price and won't be reduced further. Waiting for PM from anyone interested.

You're probably gonna be better off just paying pman or someone to fix it. Then you can either keep it, or sell it as a working unit.
