Both have been used to make lasers, but I do not think anyone is making a "kit" for them.


The 3.6V AAA size battries are called 10440. Many of the rechargeable batteries have numeric designations. 10440 stands for a battery that is 10mm in diameter and 44mm long (the same size as an AAA).

We also regularly use 14500, 18650, etc.

I just wanted to know if they have enough room in them, not if there was a kit available....

Now I can use the rkcstr drives in this?
Will 10.8v will be useable with the bluray as well as the reds?

there is my kit :) and it comes with host, heatsink, flex drive and rechargeable battery.

you just have to supply your own diode and aixiz module.

CAREFUL with those, fully charged lithiums aren't at rated voltage. A fully charged 10440 can easily be at 4.2 volts, which mean 3 batteries is 12.6, which can break a stock rkcstr driver.
 
I saw on the LM1117 Data sheet that the Maximum Input Voltage is 20 Volts...
Granted... I don't have a schematic of Rkcstr's driver... there may be some other
parts that has a lower voltage rating... correct me if I'm wrong...:thinking:

I didn't know that! What do the last two digits mean?



I think the second host is too "thin" to provide enough heatsinking for any laser unless you create an aluminum heatsink to fit it.
Also, the first one uses three AAA. I'd rather use one CR123 or CR2.
 
You are right Jerry ! the lowest rated component on that board is 16 volts someone correct me if I'm wrong !

I was thinking of using a bunch of washers and arctic silver.
They both use AAA, but that's fine. Isnt it?
 
I bought one of the compact 9-LED flashlights... the same exact model shown above. A very nice, sturdy flashlight with a very good clicky switch at the back... but the head is a bit tight with only about 27 mm of space for a module, heat sink and driver... Gonna be a tricky build. Immediately I would suggest a drLava drive because its tiny and it would need to be flat at the bottom and maybe one of those brass half-length modules i've seen somewhere...

Maybe soon, i'll try it with a nice juicy red diode... :D

You are right Jerry ! the lowest rated component on that board is 16 volts someone correct me if I'm wrong !

The stock Rkcstr has a limit of 12V. You have to jump one component to get the 16V limit, but you bypass the reverse voltage protection.

check out this one i made yesterday idea from Kenom (no) driver-yikes
puts out 100 mw lcc---- low batts---- new batts on the way powered by 3 lr44 at 4.5 volts

host was given to me by Coldstl my neighbor from merced thanks Bro

I struggled to make the heat sink myself (it is the first thing I have made and it took a few goes )

Jayrob does sell a heat sink :yh: pm him
