I just received a sled from my dad and i have absolutely no idea what specs it is etc. He gave me it after i asked him to look out for any spares from work. All that is on the Sled are SF-DB10.
If anyone could shed some light on what i have here that would be awesome, i.e. Diode specs (Input voltage range, max mW power etc).
I know its not much to go on with just SF-DB10, but maybe someone has come accross it before :). Thanks for any help!

Everything I can find points to this being a DVD "reader" (DVD ROM) DVD readers are low power (~5mW) reds. If you want to see the beam or burn stuff with your laser, you will need a sled from "burner/writer."

You could also just pick up one of the LPC sleds from someone in the B/S/T board for ~$10

If you are going to go with a burner you will need some goggles as well

Peace,
dave

I have sleds from the GB PM me! I have high power reds and PHR BR's to sell, and I'll be ordering GGW's again real soon. -Glenn

Cheers Dave! I didnt expect it to be much as he deals with very old pcs lol. A reader would have been my guess. Since i have never removed a diode from a sled before, I think this would be a very good starting point :).

Any idea of a voltage threashold? Thanks again

Red/IRs should be <2.5V, but what matters to diodes is current. Probably 10mA or less.

It depends on the current. I've only found this graph with a quick search (drlava's test of a short die open can; there should also be one about the LPC-815 somewhere). You can see that it starts at 1.8V. With a low-current diode, you won't get much higher.
