SHIPPING!!& DELIVERY ASAP UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

WE did lose two ---that happens- Time kills all deals-

I did find a way to get a last minute replacement--But without Linna going to bat for us with her bosses we might have needed to send refunds-

We along with all who were in the first three GBs and all others in this one, we were able to place the order,,,, I am confident the others will arrive in time for the Holidays.. But I don't want to get hope I sure hope we are enjoying our first FULL COLOR PJs on New years Eve tho...

I have a rough idea what the nice folks at LK will be doing...

All three modules and their drivers must be removed and very likely their PSs too
Then a new show card that controls the modulation must be swapped with a full color one. This is a significant amount of labor AFAIK- I wish I were there to watch this process- So all this also means the near and far field alignment must be done all over again. And AFAIK Linna will do her customary 12 hours of pre-ship tesing-

-The scary part is if one does not pass , her techs must do more work on it- as Linna cannot just get another one off the shelf to test- For these reasons I have told Linna we are happy to wait patiently on the LK- Kinda like a surgeon -- we dont want a 'rush job' All the other PJs in this order wil be shipped while the work is being done on the LKs.

I would appreciate a PM from jeff-patrick and brian- confirming their phone numbers ... I am pretty sure all were sent to me but I had a hard time finding them at the last minute-- HWang sent me his in a way I have never thought of, but will use from now on- in ALL CAPS to both my email and LPF he put this info in his TITLE- like this+

LASERNERD,-JOE DOE,-LKPD2,-123 ELM, ANYCITY, NY, 234 567 8901.

FYI to those following this thread hoping to join the next LK GB- as a group we are only as strong as our weakest link- it is for the greater good that once committed you please do your best to stay the course- while there are plenty valid reasons to drop off the list i hope enough can hang in there .. (btw the ones we lost this time really had no other choice-- ) Family needs always are more important- Bruce in S Africa had to bail at the last few days-

How could anyone know that Nelson Mandela was going to pass away and that the country would be in turmoil- a week of national morning cost Bruce a weeks wages-
Mandela was a inspiring person who made incredible sacrifices for his country.
---------------

WE were already lucky to get the free upgrades for just 5 pieces and not the ten needed for the first LK GBs--

Also for future GBs we are going to need a 10% hike in pricing and the 10 or more rule will be followed. Due the the price of the upgraded LK I hope we again need only a max of 5 buyers- This may be easier to do if LK GB#5 is only for ten pcs LK PD2 and 5 pcs LK. Those wanting other PJs can ask and I will do my best to get them ordered too but no promises. You may be able to buy a LK 3D from one of those four who will have them- NOT because they are not liked but because the owners may need that $248 (or more NOT less) and ship cost so they can use that $$ to get another LK projector.

I hope my next post in this thread will be announcing that the tracking numbers for all (but the LKRGB5s) are now being sent out.

When I can I will re-post the links to all owners guides-not sure studying these will make 'THE WAIT' less stressful but at least Linna gets these delivered in about 3 days after handing them to DHL China and NOT two -three weeks like we waited on the REKE RGB 500s.

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

Hey Hak, PM sent this morning, hope you received it.
Let me know if you didn't get it.

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

Much better written than I would have guessed--pretty solid manual. Can't wait for my unit to show... trying to crush educate myself on my software and graphics in the meanwhile but am sure seeing how they act real will be essential.

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

When I get a chance to review a LK I will be checking to see if these, like all the other PJs from LK that I have seen, will have a different remote interlock- While is was very nice that LK was adding their version of an E-Stop I have been told by an expert these it is not correctly designed- the laser output MUST stop in the event that the wire is cut or the plug is pulled form the projector. AS, if not, the E-stop would cease to function-

The page on realignment of the dichro mirror is very important as it is common to occasionally need to 'tweak' these back into proper alignment- I expect some to arrive in need of this-- as any time a projector is shipped/handled ETC the dichros can be jarred . Linna does extensive testing to assure none shipped are less than 'perfect'. WE are lucky to have members at LPF like jeffthe00 to give advice-
WE have members here like P-man Pete- who took pics showing how he added an audio in jack and thus not relying on the built-in mic- Early Pjs were ONLY sopund responce and before those laser were often just bounced off mirrors attached to the speraker cones.

Read this interesting info from the LK site:

Most of the original "laser shows" that exposed the public to the beauty and pure colours of lasers were in the form of art, sculpture and holography exhibitions. This does not meet today's definition of a laser light show.
It is defined here as a show where the laser is the main attraction. It is as an event where the audience expects the laser to be the major component of the show. For example, lasers at a rock concert would not qualify as a laser light show as the audience came to see the band not the lasers (except possibly in the case of a Pink Floyd's tour). Laser light shows typically choreograph projected scanned laser images (abstract, representational and optically generated) and beam effects with a music soundtrack for a complete entertainment experience.
Once lasers moved from the laboratory to production and became widely available, they generated a great deal of interest and excitement especially amongst the artistic community. Early laser "shows" were often static beam array sculptures and did not use the scanned imagery we are familiar with in today's shows.
Lasers were first used in many art exhibitions which do not qualify as "pure" laser light shows since the lasers were an element of the show along with other art works. These laser art shows were the precursors of today's laser light shows. They exposed the public to the lasers pure colours and light as an art/entertainment form.
Much of the early artistic use of lasers was in the creation and display of holograms. Holograms continue to be a popular art form and many cities now have museums and galleries devoted to holography. The original and most famous of which is "The Museum of Holography" on Mercer street in New York City, founded in 1976 (now closed).
Optical transforms (diffraction patterns) were a very popular form of laser art in the early seventies. An optical transform is created by projecting laser light through an aperture and observing the results on a screen. The aperture used for the transforms was typically a black and white image recorded onto high contrast 35 mm film. The resulting projected patterns were often very complex and artistic. To make a permanent record of the transform, the laser can be projected onto photosensitive paper or photographed with a regular camera.
One of the first exhibitions of optical transforms was presented by Canadian photographer Lawrence Weissmann at the International Museum of Photography, George Eastman House, Rochester, NY in 1971. Mr. Weissmann's work differs from most other creators of optical transforms in that he uses images of people and objects rather than geometric shapes.

Early laser art shows
Early light shows relied on images created by mirrors attached to loudspeakers (Sonovision and others), scanning of the laser beam with motorised spinning mirrors, electromagnet-controlled springs and other techniques. While the early methods produced interesting and often repeatable scanned patters, they lack the precise control necessary to accurately position the beam.

The Birth of X-Y Scanning
The heart of the modern laser light show projector is the X-Y scanning system which allows for drawing with light to create abstract and cycloid effects. With today's precision, high-speed, position-detecting galvanometers, scanned graphics and animations are possible.

Steroscopic Laser 3D

Another milestone in the development of laser light show technology was the first presentation of stereoscopic laser 3D. Commercialised by Laser Fantasy International, the first public performance was at Boeing headquarters in Seattle, Washington in 1986.
To project the separate left and right eye views required for perception of a 3D image, the laser projection system used one scan pair for each of the left and right eye images. Polarising material was mounted in front of each scan head in an orthogonal orientation. The audience viewed the presentation using orthogonally polarised glasses. Since the polarised material transmits all laser lines, this technique allowed for the perception of full colour images in 3D.

laser show projectors have come a LONG way--IMO

2.safety guard

Laser light show is more and more popular in public life. And more and more laser lover want to design their own laser show system . But remember ,laser safety is one thing you should consider during your designing. Some interlock devices are required in a laser show system. As fellows:

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

Hello,

I signed up to take advantage of your GB. I decided to contact Linna directly for more information on the 500mw LK PD2.0. She said they were running a Christmas sale on this projector for $480, with free shipping to the US. I thought the GB price was suppose to be cheaper than what we can buy it directly. Your GB price is higher than the direct quote I received. I don't understand.

Phil

Phil makes a valid point. Not to add to this but I got the same quote from Linna

Dear Sir
Thanks for your interest in our product LK-PD2.

The price of LK-PD2 is USD480 (Free shipping DHL )

Best regards
Linna

Photonlexicon- Laser King Promo Flyer

I might be missing something but from what I can see, it appears to be the same exact deal only cheaper. If this is the case then I'm going direct through Linna and getting one for Xmas :D If I'm missing something then someone please point it out so I'm not spending money and missing something obvious  I feel like I'm missing something and I'm super tired so probably am. Heading to bed and will reevaluate the deal in the morning. I hope someone else can take a look at this while I'm resting and point out my flaw or confirm that its a good deal.

BTW already confirmed this was for the 638nm version, which is the only version listed on the site.

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

Isn't there a charge on both ends to send money? I thought that was part of why the GB was suppose ti be cheaper than direct? Maybe Len can shed some laser light on this.

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

One thing I just found out is a price on the LK-SD and its looking good! Right now I'm leaning towards that bad boy but payments is one thing I asked Linna about and I'm waiting on an answer. She may have replied but I haven't checked yet. Lpf is the first thing I check so brb

EDIT: Fee to send money to them the way Linna indicates is $12 which brings the LK-PD2 to $492 shipped

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

Phil my guess:

1) our deal is for DHL express shipping which is more costly
2) there is a wire fee on this Len has to absorb
3) I'm sure the guy has to have a slightarkup here to help make sure he doesn't lose money in the transaction

I'm more interested in getting my tracking number :) I may have to make special arrangements if this thing doesn't show before Christmas.

I may want to reach out to them on the LED lighting setup they have to see if those rotating guys are a deal.

Overall though I view the Group buy as a slightly stronger option for helping assure we get better support if something is messed up.

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

Just read the other post on the DHL bit am corrected there.

Really looking forward to the SD1 :)

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

Idk the warranty with the GB but I'm guessing the same 12 months that Linna quoted me at. This is why I'm curious because everything is seeming to be the same; shipping warranty and all. I was going to eait til Haks next GN to get one but he saidntherenwas a 10% price increase so if its the same deal as this GB but cheaper then ill hop on this, save a few bucks and get my projector this year.

Shipping is DHL express
Fee for transfer is $12
Both confirmed. Checking cost of other money transfers now

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

I'm not saying warranty is any different just that a group is multiple people upset if support is an issue.

I feel much more comfortable buying something from an overseas company I've never dealt with in this way than picking a random from ebay.

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

IMO a group doesn't matter. If service is junk then it'll be junk for a group or for an individual. Also this isnt picking a random item off ebay, this is dealing DIRECT with Linna from Laser King, the same person Hak dealt with.

I think, from what ive seen talking to Linna myself that service wont be an issue and thats not what is in question. What is in question is what are we missing!? Is Linna giving another site a better deal, is it one of those its on sale one week and two weeks later its on a bigger sale or am i missing a part of this GB or Linna's sale. Ive tried to read through this thread again to see if its me missing something but i cant find anything

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

Yeah--I feel you. Just saying I'm appreciative of finding a group that had found a source to go to and answering the things I don't know to ask.

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

Interesting... perhaps just ask her why there is a difference in price between our GB and your quote?

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

I did and the question was ignored. I mentioned that I missed this GB here and was interested in knowing what her special was on the other site and Linna replied with the quote I posted above. I had to ask when that sale was ending multiple times before it was answered but I got that question answered along with pretty much every other question Ive asked.

Re: UPDATE!!Laserprojector group buy # 4 Time to send PAYMENTS

Huh. Strange... that sounds a bit fishy to me.

By the way, anyone know when our PJ's will ship out?
