Has anyone ever had any problems sending laser diodes or kits into Australia?

Aussie users, have you ordered kits + diodes? I'm ordering a kit from Moh and want to know if 120mW diode will be confiscated...

Everything else won't be touched. But I need to know if a module/diode + driver will be confiscated.

I know many of you will probably say "never know, 50% chance" but for those people that have experience in this, please let me know.

Thank you!

I just sent 2 complete lasers to Oz, no problems at all. I labeled one as a Glow In The Dark Flashlight annd had a G.I.TD. cap on the lens, the other (a box unit) was labeled "Interferometer Light Source" -Glenn

Okay sweet. Thanks man, this helps me make the decision. Haha.

Just ordered a full kit from Moh. But I said to send in 2 packages disassembled inot each piece. Should I just get it sent in one package labelled "Glow In The Dark Flashlight Kit"??

Laser components will make it thru fine. It's just items that blatantly look like laser pointers that will get confiscated :)

Whereabouts in AU are you?

Gold Coast, QLD.

I ordered the whole kit including host etc through Moh, but your comments are making me feel a whole lot better. ;]

Thanks

yeah, parts get through fine. i just got a 50mW green module from o-like so your parts should easily make it through. besides, customs can't confiscate parts, the laws only covers importing "handheld" lasers.

Or mark them as "barcode scanner parts for replacement", or "optical fence emitter", or "OEM alignment module for CNC machine" ..... fantasy can help a lot, sometimes, and, after all, these ARE effective uses for laser modules :D
