Sanwu 405 nm One Watt

I didn't want to twist too much since many lasers there is a chance of twisting off the wires. I did that once and had to fix it.
Anyway this tiny Laser can pop a balloon 30' away or focused scribe some very hard plastic or wood.

I just ordered a Sanwu 405 1 watt myself yesterday. Do you like the multi mode feature?
Is it intuitive to switch between <10, 1/2 SOS mode and full power using the 1/2 click feature.
Would,you suggest it, or would,you go for your basic on or off switch?

Actually, single mode is better for a 405nm laser. You won't be using the 1/2 output features anyway and the SOS - 405nm is dim compare to another common wavelenths. <10mw, you can do that by activating the safety lock function too. If you have a second thought right now, just tell me.

I'm not sure what the need for multimode would be on a 405nm. Is there a price difference?
What is that unit made of? Can't really tell. +REP

Agreed, I know the multimode and singlemode driver aren't a big different and it shouldn't add up the price even by a bit but it is sanwu decision. Unless someone really got some real use with the multimode's functions, most of the people chose to have single mode anyway.

I like the soft start and the Ten percent mode for aiming, or adjusting it. This Laser is plenty bright at night as you can see in my pictures. I use this one for scribing power tools ie the battery packs to identify the owner. Several of us use the same type of cordless drills on the work site. The strobe effect is great for scaring off pesky birds. They see the beam as solid and coming after them. Don't worry I never aim it directly at them

Anyway I use this more like a pen. I never see one controlled by holding it like a pencil and squeezining slightly to activate it to write. Having to move it quickly away from the work is the only quick stop the burning

I'm guessing you are talking about inscribing on an area of plastic when you say battery packs. Or can this actually leave a mark on metal on a tool itself?

I'm going to go ahead and cast 1 vote for NOT pointing a 1 watt laser at your face - focused or not. A UV flashlight at lower power will do the trick.
 
Sorry that came out wrong when I typed it I was picturing myself when I tried it on my low powered 405nm unfocused worked like a torch . sorry I forgot your talking about 1 watt my bad.
