If you got that new copper host Lew, hope you enjoy it. Put something strong in it, the whole thing is pretty much a heat sink.

The whole thing weighs less than 9 ounces. I have copper heat sinks that weigh three time that much, so you can't put anything in it. I wouldn't try to put a NUBM44 in it. I believe it is a great host for one of these new Sharp diodes driven up to 300 mA. It should be able to keep a copper module with one of those diodes cool enough to stay on its wavelength for a couple of minutes.

Hi Paul.
Yes I agree the whole purpose for this host was for the new 495' based upon its 1X14500 lith ion. So the more copper to keep it in line with the WL stable for extended periods.

Yep. Would be the perfect host for one of those. In fact, my new 488nm laser is in one of your copper hosts.

Hi Paul.
I started to machine the host originally with the intent of a CU sink, Brass tube and a CU tail cap. But once I was machining the CU well it took this long to get were I was I just went all CU. I love CU but a real pain to machine slow RPM's and a lot of coolant. basically Bazzoka bible gum at some points. Once polished well it speaks for it self.

I love the look of copper too. I hate having to polish it, though. I have some that were coated in acrylic after polishing and they always look good. I wish Sulman had done my Cyrprus II that way.

Hi Paul,
yes basically thats the only downfall about copper the atmosphere play havoc on the material. Oh by the way I just purchased some clear gloss powder coating. I tried it out today on a piece of scrap that I polished to simulate a finished piece. Well it came out ok but it gives the copper the appearance of a slight tint . I'll post some pics in the AM compared to raw polished copper Side by side I thought it would be an option to spray coating. The coating is chip and crack resistant and very durable. Might try the same coating from a different company, they may have different pigment mixtures .
Ok Here is a comparison with and without High Gloss powder coating on copper,

Rich:)
