Sale thread/ Hosts/Heat Sinks/Focus adapters/lasers

That’s really nice looking. I’d buy it but I’d have no idea how to turn it into a working laser :)
You would need some soldering skills , DTR sells complete laser diode modules prewired . solder two wire together and heat sink the solder joints . slide the module in the heat sink and tighten the set screw. DTR also sells aspherical lens to focus the beam.
Rich:)

I think I’d end up soldering my finger to the host :)

Dang, that 2x18650 host is sweet!

Soldering's not that hard, just practice. The biggest thing I learned is tinning whatever you're soldering first, makes soldering a whole heaping easier.
First time I soldered was a mess, way too much solder pooled out over other contacts. Then someone clued me in on tinning first, then you just hold the two together and touch the iron to it. It's all about tinning and effective heat transfer.

I'm no soldering ace, but I can stick two pieces of metal together!

All it takes is practice and a temp control solder station with good solder helps, 63/37 solidifies fast, I like the rosin core and a thin dia. Kester #44 is good.

Thats what I use Red nothing else. Great solder ...

Ha, I have a 20 year old Radio Shack 40w iron and a couple spools of their .022 and .032 silver bearing rosin cored wire.
Then about 15 years ago I picked up a Weller WPS18MP and love that. It's DC and heats/cools quickly.
Just to dabble a cheap iron will work, I'd stick to a 40w, or the Weller I mentioned and some decent silver bearing solder.
Keep the tip clean and tinned and only on the joint long enough for the solder to melt/flow.
Then as your skills and/or needs increase you can look at better equipment.
I only solder a couple or few times a year and current gear meets my needs just fine.
Anyone dabbling in electronics should get at least some basic soldering skill.

Hi folks,
here is a 2X18650 host knurled battery tube prewired . I am undecided to powder coat or not to powder coat.
Rich:)
