Re: ★ Ryan's Laser Build Shop ★ [POWERFUL BURNING LASERS] [Custom Build Service]

well there is also this thing called common courtesy, which this forum doesnt seems to know anything about. clearly unsaid motto here is "if you are not in the cult, you are against it"

RDH said many times its non of his business, regarding ryans shop and yet he is very vocal, this is just a reminiscences of TS93 thread, when he asked question about selling lasers etc.

I truly think that many here only make their living from selling laser and when other user decided to sell, they get really angry and rage, that they will lose some business.

can you shut up? you dont know what you are talking about

you have no idea what you are talking about there is not a single person here with their primary income from selling lasers.

if you dont like how this forum works do us a favor and leave.

Re: ★ Ryan's Laser Build Shop ★ [POWERFUL BURNING LASERS] [Custom Build Service]

Yes I have considered those points as well. There are ways I protect myself, the only people that know my home address are the people who I buy from and I trust (people like you). But no buyers or potential FDA agents or HC agents can get at me even if they buy from me. My lawyer has helped me to implement methods to protect myself. Besides the point, I can actually guarantee 100% legal pass through customs, I didn't want to mention anything about it before as I know there would be people crying wolf. But after studying the law with my lawyer and with various phonecalls to other companies who are in the same business... it truly is 100% legal.

See! Thats whats pissing people off
Your over confidence and or cockiness. Just shut up and listen. Stop trying to prove your self, point or your knowledge. To prove ones self takes time...

Also
The only way to ship it legal, I assume is to sell it unassembled. so your going to have your buyers hook up a few wires or something????

Also sounds kinda funny how you spent all this money on lawyers to protect your self. And how not even your buyers ''customers'' will ever know your adress.
Your starting to sound like you may be expecting trouble. Just in case some of your builds die or never arrive your protected:(

You should have used all that money to buy and stock up on parts and supplies for your pro shop. Sounds like you didn't think this whole pro shop thing out very well

Re:

Thanks for finally listening to your LPF elders. Closing up your shop temporally is a step in the right direction. Earn some time and make a few more friends here at LPF before you go all gang busters on our BST section again.

Yes you wil find that we are very protective of our members. Not long ago we had another young seller ''Ben'' who offered ''super, duper, speciall'' laser builds.
It didn't take long before one of his builds turned up defective. Turns out it died because of poor craftsmanship. This so called ''pro builder'' refused to own up to it, and blamed the user for not following duty cycles.

Long story short he got his ass banned.
My self and a few other LPF members, all pitched in to buy him a new diode and driver and have a real pro rebuild his laser.
We all stepped in to help this poor kid because we did not want him leaving thinking LPF is full of thieves and scammers.

I'm willing to show you guys I'm no bhwollen. I'm very meticulous with my builds, it's in my character.

I'm not being over-confident or cocky. It is legal. & don't be rude and tell me to shut up. Be nice, I'll listen.

Yes, I do have to protect myself. My address buyers see is legally owned. But you seem to think I'm an asshole or a bhwollen and will leave.

And so I started reading bhwollen's threads and seeing the way he speaks, it's not hard to tell he's a outright douchebag and an asshole and was the type to pull one like that. One's words & word choice tell a lot about the person.

On the other hand, I plan to STAY. People who know me know I'm a nice, honest guy.

Now PLEASE be nice and please don't be so rude or mean to me. Your words will have more effect if you simply say it nicely or just be concise and no need to tell me to shut up or imply I'm going to scam people.

The way you say things are really hurting to me...

Ryan, please stop before you lose any more reputation. (Real rep not the + or - thing we do on the forum) You just can't expect anyone to take you serious when you make statements like that. We are talking about the US goverment here. If customs wants to come after you they will and I expect you would be in deep crap if they did. Even though you don't live in the US.

The fact remains you live in a US "friendly" country that also shares a border with the US.

If you have a lawyer that can get you out of that mess you either have friends in very high places or are loaded with more money then many small countries.

I think you are really playing with fire here and I'm not sure you really understand the type of hot water you can get into.

Do you understand the law? The US gov't has no jurisdiction on Canadian soil. Period. It's also NOT the US gov't. It's ONE department of them. There ARE things they can actually do but I'm well aware of them, most are merely scare tactics.

Besides, you missed the point I was trying to make: to protect myself is not to shelter myself from US bombs (figurative speech). It is to PREVENT them from doing so in the first place.

Look, did you speak to your lawyer before stating that? I know what I'm talking about. Don't speak as if you're a lawyer and you know better than a real one.

Here is some more food for thought regarding the legality of this all.

http://laserpointerforums.com/f44/c...fo-release-laserglow-73129-4.html#post1064239

Yes that document has been consulted on multiple occasions prior to my opening.

I'm not going to go any further and give details but yes there are ways to stay legal. If you want to know yourself, spend the time and effort to go through the law and you can see for yourself, rather than read up other people's information and opinion.

If the heavily-indebted US gov't wants to spend the kind of money required to fully stop a mere hobbyist laser builder in a foreign country (who makes up 0.00000000000000001% of illegal imports), then I must be exporting much more than just lasers... think about it.

Which law am I supposed to understand? International law, US law, CA law, or some other country's law? The fact is I very well may be wrong and your lawyer may be right, I'm stating my opinion, as you are yours.

You have 5 pages of people trying to tell you that you are going about things not only the wrong way but in a way that could cause you legal issues, however from what I can tell, you feel you are in the right.

Most of us are trying to help (although some were rather harsh about it).

I have no desire to debate this with you in PM. PMs have a way of getting out of hand more quickly and I don't feel like going down that road. I'm not trying to argue with you so please refrain from sending me anymore PMs stating how wrong I am. I would prefer not to have to put you on ignore.

I have never fought with a user on PM and have no desire to. All my PM's are mature letters or statements to people and that's it.

And look it doesn't matter who's right or wrong. I am such a minuscule issue to any government department that it's worthless for them to waste their time on me. Yes, if I get as big as Moh, then there might be problems, but that's way down the road. And like I said, even if such were to occur, of course there are ways to protect yourself, there always is a way to fix or prevent things, I always believe that.

Anyway.. I really appreciate everyone's help. And I've listened to their advice! I'm sure you can see for yourself cranmer :) (hint: shop closed) Not sure how much more you expect of me.

P.S. it is 100% legal for me and everyone Canadian, under Canadian law, to export lasers.

So, you claim it's legal, but then say that your business is small right now so the government won't bother you. Why would they bother you if it's legal? :wtf: See how contradictory that sounds? And even if Canadian law allows the exportation of lasers as you claim, the United States WILL SEIZE any lasers that they find passing through customs that are not FDA compliant. I'd be worried you're already on a watch list after today. Furthermore, why anyone would pay 3 weeks in advance for a laser made by someone who learned how to do it - oddly enough - 3 weeks ago is a mystery to me. But whatever man. I think you've taken a massive crap on the forum with this. Send one of your builds to a senior member for review first. Then people might trust you. And sell them as kits so they're legal to import.

Stop trying to rescue ryan. Let him work this out. This whole thread, you have done nothing but scold members for giving ryan constructive criticism.
The first few times you stuck up for him were Ok but now your geting annoying..

Good point buddy! Please forward those concerns to RHD, JLSE, LaserGlow, and any other laser seller and tell them to stop selling their lasers because they're illegal to import to the US. After all, they sell 10x to 100x more lasers than me.

On a realistic note, I will follow my country's laws, not yours, and it is up to the buyer to decide to import said products.

Say anything more about illegality of imports to US and I'll just refer anyone to this post's first statement.

Ryan - rhd knows that his lasers are illegal to import into the USA. However, he is selling one-offs, not opening a shop, so it's less concerning to the FDA. Also, I am pretty damn sure that if rhd gets notification that one of his lasers was confiscated, he would either refund the buyer or send him another.

But I won't say more until he speaks up for himself.

Ok good for him. But I'm not required to do so. And my policies parallel that of other Canadian laser companies. It doesn't matter to me nor is it my business what other hobbyists' policies are.

That being said, on customer's request, I can guarantee no confiscation or their money back (proof of confiscation must be shown).

Regards,
Ryan
