Rayfoss - 300mw 635nm - $55

indeed, my 213mW 638nm is awesomely bright, cant imagine what half watt 638nm would be like!

same thing poped up from seller techhood

300mW 635nm US$73

500mW 635nm US$121

I think this time around I'll wait for someone else to buy and review..I got burn't with the 638s a little while back.. :)

A word of warning - they charge 25% 'handling fee' which they conveniently place low down where you are least likely to read it... Better than nothing I suppose.

If these are on spec, this will be a huge step forward for many of us.. for more affordable red for shows and pointers.. I really am waiting with bated breath :san:

Even if these are the real deal, remember, they are barely pointer class laser diodes - more torches if anything. The divergence is much worse than our normal 445 diodes, which I believe are like 7/20. These diodes are 7/35, meaning it'll probably be about as bad as a 9mm 808nm 1W diode.

RHD owns a HL63133, which has about the same divergence as a regular red diode. Still, only around 190mW though...

That's because that diode is like the highest powered, commercial, single-mode 635nm diode. These are not single mode.

EDIT: From the datasheet, "This LD has broad-stripe structure which enables high output power"

This is exciting but I cannot help to think back to the last time 300 and 500mW 635nm diodes popped up everywhere. Fingers Crossed

Fingers are crossed... wallet's at the ready... almost, it's been pouring all day, I didn't go to bank as planned:o
