Quit my job!

Best wishes Ped with your new endeavor. Enjoy your Christmas and in the new year may you land a new position that works for you with a huge pay increase! ;)

Sorry to hear the business you've been in got sold and the new owner has eliminated your job. That sucks. Here's hoping you will find a better one over the holidays with greater compensation and happiness, ped.

Ped, good for you, I'm about ready to quit mine here in Iraq too, getting fed up with a coworker who has been breaking my things due to being mad about something he was doing I put a stop to out here which was bad news. The little arse broke all the mirrors off of the RGB laser I had bought from Bad Billy, continues to hide tools and personal items on me, later returning them, but getting very old.

Now that I know you work on cell phones, I have a question for you about mine. LOL, just kidding.

Hi Chris,
Hey do you need an extra large can of woopa$$ I have some in stock ready to ship

Rich:)

Ped, I'd look into starting your own thing after that, if you could.

I'd like a can of that, he took off for vacation, I've reported this stuff among a dozen other things he's done like stealing my tools and parts when I am not around the shop, but the company does nothing because I can't prove it. Ordered a hidden camera. I am not going to take the aussy job, I'd like to, but the risk of moving so far away to have things go badly is just too high. Have a job offer to go to Doha, Qatar now, instead of living in a tent, an apartment and company car :) One possible hitch though, will see.....

Chris

I wish you luck on your job hunt, Chris. I hope you can find one that pays what you are used to, but has less of the problems associated with the job you have now. And have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Glad to hear, Ped, thanks for the update! :yh:
Hopefully you don't have to put up with the same B.S. as you did with your old boss.

Goods news ped---hopefully this new job will be smooth sailing and the difficult times are all behind you now.
Whoever hired you is lucky/fortunate to have you on board.
Not easy to find people who actually enjoy their work + are experienced and good at it.

I am very happy for you, ped. If you can do what you love and get paid for it, nothing could be sweeter.

Glad to hear you are back at it, and as Alaskan said doing your own thing is great if you have the contacts/time honed industry specific knowledge.

I love being self employed, but there are challenges, still it's the way to go if you have the knowledge to make it pay.

As for hiring on other people and building a business, I'm just not that aggressive/dedicated anymore, after all we only get just so much time and enjoying life has a value of it's own....now if you enjoy managing people 80 hours a week then more power to ya.

You've probably got the knowledge, but I can understand when it comes to the confidence. UK business startup is a bit risky atm. But if you are happy where you are now, then no need to worry.

While I was still in school, I was talked into starting my own business to free up my schedule some. It was the worst advice I ever got. It took more time to not just do the work, but to chase accounts receivable and keep up with all the paperwork involved. That experience scared me away from ever trying it again. If you have a job that also makes you happy to show up, consider yourself lucky and leave it at that.
