Questions about 510 Thread Hosts

I have spent hours looking around for a host that would fit 2x 18650s that has a 510 thread port for my handheld laser. I have found countless hosts that are used for ecigs that have room for either 1x 18650 or 2x 18650s but in a box mod.
1. Does anybody have any recommendations for 510 thread hosts that fit 2x 18650s?
2. If there aren't any hosts in standard production that can fit two of the batteries, would it be possible to get one custom made with enough space?
3. Would you recommend going a different route and buying a custom host from one of the guys on here and not worrying about 510 thread heatsink?

Edit: 4. Would you recommend going with a different battery all together, I need 2X 3.7v batteries at 2400mah.

Michael, welcome to LPF! :)

There have been a few hosts modified to accept the 510 threaded modules.
Here is a Link to one of the modded hosts, although this isn't a 2 x 18650 host, the general idea would be the same.

Edit: I'm sure some of our talented machinists and host builders, such as Ehgemus, or sinner could build a custom host to your specs.

While you can modify a host to accept the 510 threaded heatsink that will cost much more than just using an 18650 mech mod and putting two AW IMR 16340's in it. Is there a reason you need 2400mAh cells? Two AW 16340 is what I use in mine and it works great. Are you just after longer times between recharging?

If you are going with say a 2W M140 with X-drive 510 unit two AW IMR 16340's which are 550mAh and the unit draws probably about an average of 1400mA during the battery cycle so that is about 24 minutes of runtime between recharging which can be a lot in a portable depending on how much you plan on using it.

Actually, I was going looking into getting an NDG7475 with the 2.4A driver from your website, I assumed that a 2.4A driver would need 2400mah from batteries, though I do not have a full understanding of drivers because I still need to read through some threads that I found.

I am a Freshman in Computer Engineering and plan on learning quite a bit more about circuits and electronics in the next couple of years, but I know enough of the basics to understand what I'm reading about the drivers.

A 2.4A driver will draw more than 2.4A from the batteries, no driver is 100% efficient. This has nothing to do with the mAh printed on the batteries, the mAh is just an indication of the power capacity of the battery, it gives you an idea how long the battery will last before it needs charging. A 1000mAh battery can deliver 1A for one hour, or 2A for half an hour etc. As long as the battery can deliver a high enough current then it will still work regardless of the mAh, but the higher the mAh then the longer the battery will last.

The mAh(milliampere hour) rating of the battery is the capacity of the cell. So if your cell is 2300mAh and has a load of 2.3A it can run one hour before needing to be recharged. It is not the discharge capability of the cell. That is measured in a "C" rating which would be C multiplied by mAh. A lot of listings will not include this rating but some specially the better battery shops will list a discharge rating. The AW IMR's are 8C if I remember correctly so if the cell is 550mAh it can handle loads up to 4.4A.

Anyway with the NDG7475 with X-drive 510 threaded unit will draw on average 2A over the battery cycle so with two 550mAh AW IMR 16340 that would give about 17 minutes of runtime between recharging which is still not bad and you can keep the build compact as two 18650 units are pretty long.:)

Thanks so much, I knew that mAh was capacity but my brain just didn't quite make the connection lol, I will look into those batteries. Sorry for being so nooby haha.

Hi ,
There's a mech mod side button i found on eBay. Love it it beats a bottom fire button hands down and i can fit 2- 18350's in it..
And a few pics of my 501B conversion for 510 module

Agree with the comments on 2 18350s.

Helpful search tip

Look for "TELESCOPIC" hosts. These will almost always fit 2 of the 18350s.
Also if you are REALLY in WANT of a host that will fit 2 18650s, get two of the TELESCOPIC hosts and piece them together for a longer version.

There are also bits and pieces that you can use on ebay, sold separately from the general hosts

The telescopic are cool but i think he wants a side firing mod. I don't know if the telescopic come in that configuration, if they do thats awesome.

Just wanted to share my 510 threaded host.
It's the basic bottom button one which has a lock.
