Presale: "Just Add Diode" Kits

Loosen the set screw. Does the kit still have a set screw? I do not have mine in front of me right now.

No, should not rattle. It will just slip back into the heatsink, then tighten the set screw. If your diode does not already have a module, yes. Then solder Moh's leads to your diode leads, but first add heat shrink tubing. Make sure your polarity is correct.

Should look like this:

When tightening the heat sink ring, be sure to hold down the heat sink and diode so they do not twist, this will mess your wires up.

The image above shows from left to right: 1) Tail cap clicky, 2) Main body, 3) Pill containing the driver with leads attached to the diode inside an Aixiz module, 4) Diode heat sink with allen wrench, 5) Heat sink holder, 6) Heat sink retaining ring, and 7) 3 element glass lens with focus adjuster attached.

In the past, all the heat sinks have come with them. Local hardware store should have one or a set. You might get by with just the right sized really small flat screw driver.

Are all allen wrenches the same size? I have a set of mini screwdrivers, would they work? I'm not at home :D Appriciate your help by the way.

Allen wrenches are all different sizes and come in metric and American sizes. Just the right sized flat screwdriver might work, just be sure not to ream out the inside of the set screw.

Okay. Thanks for your response. I just got home now and will try out the things tomorrow. Going to sleep now - so good night! +rep.

1.5mm and 1/16" wrenched fit.
I normally include them but ran out. You can find them at almost any hardware store in the loose huge and bolts section. They are usually about $0.20

Hey Moh. I have soldered it all the laser works but when I accidentally focus the focus ring all the way in, I cant get it off there unless I take of the retaining ring, if I don't, the heatsink also starts screwing. How is that fixed?

Hi can you put me down for 2 will PM you....have a few questions! :thanks:

about to order some batteries for the kit, just wanted to make sure i get the right kind. This takes 2 16340 CR123A 880mAh batteries?

Is the o-ring still in place that sits in the retaining ring?

Do you have any drivers that have multiple mode?
For example one like this:
3W 19-Mode Universal Regulated Circuit Board for Flashlights - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

Its the same diameter, so I think it would fit. The only problem I see is that there would be no room for that chunk of aluminum. Although that driver might not need it as its a switching regulator, VS your linear one?

I'm thinking of picking this up for my first home made laser, but I want a Low/med/high setting. I think the strobe mode would be cool too.

Thanks.

Moh, when's the sale of the kits coming? I need two more at 1.8A this time.

Thanks.

Glenn

QUOTE=Mohrenberg;1031964]Sure did.

All packages went out Monday morning so US packages should just about all arrived by now.
I got them in the mail Just an hour or two before I left for the airport.

I left Kansas City with 4 inches of snow, wearing pants, a hoodie and winter coat and arrived in florida two hours later and changed into shorts and a t shirt. Was awesome!

I fly back home on the 24th.

When I get back I am going to have another sale of these (I've got about 60 of them sitting at home right now) for the purpose of having C6 heatsinks CNC machined and anodized by the chinese. I'm curious to see how well they will make them. If it works out I will probably switch everything over to them, since I can't even justify wasting my time on the lathe with the price quotes they are giving me for 1000pcs[/QUOTE]

I got mine! :) I really Love the Focus adapters. There was A Press Tool, i didn't order that
