EDIT: WTF? I just took a look behind the focusing head and noticed a little something, you broke the AxiZ module window that sits in front of the diode! Is there something I can do to fix this?

Is there more than one piece? Can you "see" the piece(s)? Are they still "over" the opening or are they lying off to the side? if you can get the piece to lie off to the side with a bit of it touching the opening, you may be able to "glue" it in place (out of the way) with some CA on a very small probe. if it is still "over" the opening, but you can see the "crack/break", you may have to break it the rest of the way so you can get it off to the side (or out of the can). Both of those scenarios required great amounts of "luck."

Do you feel lucky . . . . .

Peace,
dave

Actually there were 3 pieces. two of the pieces were rattling around inside and the other half of the window was still stuck to the diode. I managed to get one of the very small pieces out, after that I broke the side off of the big rattling piece and it came out. The half that was still stuck to the diode was a tuff one, It was too strong to remove with a toothpick so I used a piece of sturdy copper wire to snap it off cleanly. So now I have a windowless 803t that looks like the hair thin diode wires (Wow are they hard to see) are still in-tact. I ordered a driver from rkcstr and it was shipped today so I probably won't get it till next week. We'll just have to wait and see.

Cross your fingers,

P.S. These kind of problems seem to happen to me alot with many items. But everything normally turns out fine.

I wouldn't mind finding someone who sells them cheap either.. or another source.. The "jerk" put a real damper on my plans, since I have lost 2 803T's lately(Goes with the territory when you drive them at higher currents I guess LOL).

As most of you probably remember, I recieved one of these diodes in an AxiZ module and during the shipping process one of those lazy postal people must've done something to shatter the diode window. I got my driver today and soldered it up to the diode. To my surprise the diode actually had a glow to it. It was like a small voilet LED for two seconds, then it slowly faded into nothing  :'(. Those were the coolest two seconds of my life, I have never seen a Blu-Ray in person before and I loved the color. Well, my dreams have been crushed because my budget no longer allows for another diode until next year.

It was a beautiful expierience while it lasted... Now I see why everyone loves them....
