I'm no expert on optics or optical coatings, but is there a way to coat a window so as to reflect all 532nm light, like a dichroic mirror, but one way and for one color. Any thoughts would be appreciated, this might have been tried already, but I don't know, but if it hasn't, and works, we could be looking at an era where our hobby isn't threatened by idiots.

with all due respect and an honest retort. Why is it the responsibility of private corporations or government agencies to protect themselves against idiots.

This video shows laser pointer wielding criminals being prosecuted.

Same reason why police where bullet proof and stab proof jackets?

Good idea, but I believe some runway signals are green, and there for if the window blocks out all green they may not see any of these signals.

I think lasers would be outright banned before reflective coating would be put on chopper windows. That's just (IMO)

The solution should be that they stab one of your eyes out if you get caught shining that laser at aircraft. You would see how fast it stops.

Not only what YOU said ASHERZ, but the PORT SIDE navigation lights on ALL aircraft, are GREEN, (the starboard are RED). If the windows were coated to block ALL GREEN LIGHT, aircraft would have no idea which way other aircraft were positioned in the sky.
Whether they were approaching, veering away, or any other aircraft maneuver. There
would be all sorts of mid-air collisions & such. I know I wouldn't want to be an airport air traffic controller !!! YIKES, WHAT A MESS THAT WOULD CREATE............... rob
@ TJ, An eye for an eye ? As in the BIBLE ?

No.. Just a violent psychotic reaction to cause fear in all who would entertain the notion of doing it again. Its works for the Mob, street, and biker gangs. I've seen it first hand. Its quite persuasive, and a deterrent.

I believe the actually use green navigation lights and stuff because of the eye's sensitivity to green light. Blocking out all green light isn't the best of ideas.

They may use both. On ships, boats, ect the red is always on the right, and green on the left, with white in the back. Pretty sure its the same for planes.

LMFAO let me get off the floor, thanks TJ...

As I stated earlier, they use both red (port) & green (starboard) & they use a white navigation light on the starboard side of the tail of the aircraft. With the arrangement of those three lights, no matter from what direction an oncoming plane sees the aircraft, the pilot can tell what side he is approaching from & whether it is from the nose or from the tail. These same three colors & positions of navigation lights have been in use for a long time & apply to boats as well as aircraft...... rob
