Possible Ebay Scam - 300mW BluRay

I can not just read all of this and stand asside and watch all of this happen with out my 2 cents being put on here.

First off, it actually makes me happy to see a "company" try to defend themselfs on here. It rarely happens. Whether they are right or wrong, it does make me happy to see that.

Second, I don't think that anyone on here threatened anyone that works for this company....so what is the point of this remark..it made me laugh..

Third...I don't doubt that you are able to achive 300mW with that diode/laser...I do however believe that you are running that diode way to hard and that it will likely die relatively quickly due to this. The reason I say this is because I don't believe for a second that you would be selling a 8x diode with a driver for only $.... Your company would be taking a big loss in sales if that was the case.

Fourth, I can't wait to see the results BCM :)
 





Its hilarious how he assumes everyone here has no idea what they are talking about. Most of us are building better quality products than he is offering. What a stooge.

Now onto something REALLY funny - this is from one of his auctions that lists the BR output as 165mW and 210mW in the same auction:

Can you just imagine how staggering the sight of a $38 Shinp laser with a BR diode would be to the millions of visitors to Universal? YOWSERS!

what a doosh lol, a few months ago a friend of mine on candlepower said he ordered a module from them and it blew within minuets, and since he's so defensive and seems to enjoy making light threats...i think he's got a whole LOT to hide about his so called "company". no worries though, we all know we're ten times the laser enthusiasts he'll ever be.

props on the your mom needs to park the car its raining thing, lmao!
 
On his site, he says that 405nm is DPSS. Eek! that's new technology to us... Also, if he has two 165mW diodes, I'd love some of those 100% efficient optics he has (giving 330mW out!)

I do respect that he tries to defend himself but he should at least know what he is talking about. He really should know more before he calls us out and says we dont know what we're talking about. It seems to me that he is a diy'er who has not done all his research. The red laser I recieved from him sure looked homemade on the inside.("driver" held in with hot-glue, switch hot-glued ect.) If he did some more research he could most likely be able to produce a good quality laser that would last a while.

I still have the host from the red laser along with its driver if anyone wants to see it. I can take pictures.

EDIT: I did not mean to say hot glue is a bad thing. It works very well for holding things.

There's nothing wrong with hot-glue as such, it's not the ideal choice but I've seen worse in items actually sold in mass (USB sticks held with the cheapest glue imaginable)

To this guy's (their? he uses "we" in his post) credit, he has put in a great deal of time setting up this as a company, and for the most part has done a good job. The site is done to a reasonable standard, and they've definitely put the effort in to getting an FDA approved product on the market. It is not impossible that he has found diodes capable of that performance, if he has bought in bulk or found a source which we haven't (If you think that we can get PHRs at $10 that cost $1,000 at engineering-sample level, it's not actually such a surprise)

The guy claiming 405nM is peak sensitivity has (obviously) taken a quote directly from a 532nM listing and replaced the specs, which I really don't like to see in a seller. I find it hillarious that he could actually message you back and stand by that claim, though!
 
I concur Charlie - the rash, temper-tantrum defense was laughable...

Slow down on the "Legal Business" aspect of defending this guy - As a person who has been self-employed for 14 years here in WI (and owned several legit businesses) I did some digging on this company and the State has NO record whatsoever of them (tax ID, Sellers Permit, CRIS Registration, etc) as well as their address which is residential (and NOT zoned for retail/manufacturing, etc) .... On their standard systems they are just reselling them through SHINP (they're selling the 50mW blue SL8 for $945 and they're available everyday in single lots for $560 direct through SHINP) - and their "magenta" "Worlds Only" laser system is a $360 AL460 from Shinp with the green module and driver swapped out for a BR diode...

Bottom line, anyone can sell whatever they want, the old addage "Caveat Emptor" still stands - I only began this post to warn off unsuspecting "Newbies" before they were bilked out of their hard-earned money. After recieving a thinly-veiled series of threats from this guy, I went ahead and forwarded him our Company info and the neccessary sources to confirm, sort of a "I'll show you mine - You show me yours" and he just disappeared into the night as I was pretty sure he would.

For all I know, some guy in the middle of a small town in Wisconsin working out of his house just MAY have found the miracle Blu-Ray diode that hundreds of thousands of laser enthusiasts, hobbyists, and professional researchers have been searching for for years - Maybe not.

To be honest, I hope that he did find the miracle diode that all of us have been searching for. :)

That is, however, very non-profesional of him to continue on sending you threats. You have done nothing wrong. All you did was to point out the obvious. :)
 
If there're no records, it probably is an individual and not a "we" (In response to BCM). Also, I am pretty sure his number isn't going to be 608-000-0000, so does anyone want to put the time into contesting his WHOIS record?

Also, when I said that he "found" the diode, I meant that he might have managed to source himself some hitherto unknown diodes, like the Nichia prototype 450mW diodes as seen on their site. Unlikely, but possible. Personally, I won't be the one taking the plunge to find out.
 
For me, the bottom line is there's no lifetime guarantee on this laser system. That means they are overdriving whatever diode they are using to provide 300mW. That makes the system completely worthless to me, as I need some kind of assurance that the system will last at least a few thousand hours. A 5000 hour minimum lifetime is pretty much all the lower I'll go on a commercial system that I'm paying for.
