Check this out - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290314162424#description - Hmm, wonder what diode this guy is claiming 300mW out of with a 4hr duty cycle at 270mA ... Smells like either a total misrepresentation or someone found a supply of 8X diodes on the cheap (to where he can sell them for under $200 in a module with a TTL-capable driver).

My money is on SF-AW210 wrapped in a pack of deception, with a sidebet (albeit a smaller one) on GGW's wrapped in a slightly lesser amount of bullsh*t...

Any opinions?

Since it's an auction and not a buy it now, the price could (and probably will) still go up considerably. It could be an 8X and the seller could still profit..

I definitely don't trust that housing for lengthy continuous burns..

i was posting at the same time as BCM below.. given that he overdrives his PHRs, spyderz is most likely correct about it being an overdriven 6X

He must be REAL good at what he does, in his other auctions he's claiming 160mW+ out of a PHR with a 4 hour duty cycle... Boy, I wish I could do that :-)

(LMAO I was posting at the same time again, EF ...)

The whole thing just rubs me wrong because I do shows for a living 5 nights a week and I know the pounding these displays can take... Our PHR-based GVB builds are set at 114mA and I still manage to burn one out about once a month or so (and we run them no more than 1 song on / 1 song off so it's like a 4 minute - NOT hour - duty cycle)...

I also like his statement that there is no violet diode capable of 500mW, obviously he's not from around HERE :-)

I just asked him if I would get a 300mW reading on my Newport LPM with
his LD and if it was really guaranteed to last 5000 hrs at that power...:D

HA - I just asked him to confirm it was a BDR diode, because we had consistant failures of the GGW's at anything over 210mA, and same with the SF-AW's at 160mA.

Wonder if he'll even know what I'm talking about :-)

he's selling lots of blu-ray stuff, seems like he knows what hetalks about :o

Since he is selling a lot of them it SEEMS he knows what he talks about. And why do you asume he doesn't? :D

I'm still waiting for a response to my and BMC's questions to that eBay Seller...

Jerry

I really do not know a shit about 405nm diodes compared to spyderz, but one question: Isn't it posible that he has found 8x diodes?
