I am new to this site and am hoping that I can get some help.

I am looking for a laser pointer that can pop balloons of different colors and materials (specifically latex and mylar) from about 40 feet away.

I am currently living in South Korea, so I can order super cheap things from China, and would like to take advantage of that.

What mw would be best for this task? Is there a certain color pointer I should get?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

(Clearly new since I can see I posted in the wrong section...)

>300mW would be more than enough.
405nm (violet) will be best since it is absorbed by many materials. The beam characteristics also make it great over large distances.

One disadvantage, though, is that the beam is not very bright since it is at the edge of homo sapien's range of visible wavelengths.

Ohh yeah, 405nm would be best, and o-like has some cheap ones too. Actually didn't read the bit about the balloons. woops!

I can get a regular balloon at 20 ft pretty east with ny 1.9W 445 but never tried Mylar or farther
