Should the "Blu-Ray & Violet Lasers" section of LPF be changed to BR (405nm) only?

I think that this change would just end up confusing more NooBs. We already get them in the "other colors" board because they think that they are (and really want them to be) blue. At least the name "blu-Ray" gets some of them into the correct board.

Peace,

IMO should better to rename the section as: "violet and ultraviolet lasers", because the term blu-ray is referred to the diode and not to effective color of the beam as for all other lasers...if you really should be renamed it :D

I didn't read the entire thread so sorry if it's been pointed out already...

Not all Violet/Blu-Ray diodes lase at exactly 405nm.

I've had some bright and some not so bright violets at the same power.

you're right, Pierce; these are commonly referred to as "freak" diodes (just like diodes with higher efficiency than they are supposed to) and are still usually referred to as 405nm to avoid confusion. :thanks: for sharing the thought

peace & thanks
