"Pman special"

I visited a member and he had a uv board. It's a children's toy. They come with a little uv pen and the kid can draw something that will last for a bit. Not nearly as large as yours but it was a blast with a 405 pen. The low mw dot was cleaner then a high powered so it was much better Tty o draw with a low power pen. Might do my son's wall with that paint and get him the uv pen, and daddy will use a 5mw 405nm.

Your welcome Pman.
No I didn't know you were a nuke.
That activity number is the highest I saw at any given second.
The lowest was 23cpm. Av for the data points was 56cpm.
Glad you like it.

Well, what is even cooler is if your pen has a fully adjustable focus so you can draw thin/thick. I also bought 6 pieces of thick paper that is shiny on one side and is 22" x 28" which is a really nice size. Think they were about .30 each. Sprayed 2 of them and they came out great. Could tack them up somewhere or combine them to make a huge one.
I like that paint specifically for the reason others don't and that is that it is VERY bright from a 405nm hit and starts to fade in a decent amount of time. Just buy a can for $5 and try it out so you can see what the properties are like. It will certainly light up with light but there's nothing like using a 405nm. Spraying it on an entire wall would be really cool although the wall is going to look kinda "yellowish".

Well, ex-nuke now.

Commercial/Industrial Refrigeration Tech. now.
If I was still a nuke I would likely be making 3 x what I make now. Money isn't everything....

We were originally going to do a chalkboard wall. But this is much better. Want to do a base coat of magnet paint and glow paint on top, so he can learn letters and numbers on a big fun wall

That sounds like a great idea for him. Always a good thing to keep the mind active especially at this age as it will set the stage for how curious he is and how well he learns. They are super sponges;)

He's already got dad's curiosity, and of course total lack of fear lol. I've never seen him afraid of anything. He just needs to poke and prod and figure out everything. Exhausting, but I love every min. He's only one, he can open his Chica show music app on my I pad. It's like kids now come stock with touchscreen instructions pre-installed in their little noggin s. Just started walking about three weeks ago. Holy crappie it just got real. Climbing jumping falling bumping chewing knocking down EVERYTHING. .. Lol best thing to ever happen to a guy that was on the path that I was.

Sounds like you really did some life turn around stuff. Proud of ya.
There are decent people out there. Make it a point to hang with them and you start taking on their traits. Takes effort but it's worth it. WAY too easy to get sucked into the pit when you're dancing along the edge of it.
Here's the thing, it's easy to do the wrong thing and hard to do the right thing. Deliberately make those hard right thing choices. Don't hang on to any material stuff too tightly and always try to live a bit below your means. Debt is no laughing matter. Better to owe no-one and have less than owe everyone and be stressed out.
Don't let anyone tell you you should always be happy. That's garbage. You can however have joy in your life. Something may go wrong and you don't feel too happy but that doesn't mean your little one doesn't bring you any less joy. They are very different words. Happy relies a lot on circumstance while joy is more lasting.
Sorry, got me rambling about life...

To say he changed my life is a huge understatement. I spent some time in.. Let's call it camp. And due to me being selfish, I missed the birth of my only son. When I got out I promised to spend the rest of my life making up for being all about me. It's sad it took a son and camp to change me. But now that I'm a different person, those hard good decision you spoke of are now so easy compared to how I was living before. I feel normal. I feel like a great dad. We now are a happy little family. I have a real job, and fun hobbies that aren't too illegal ;) jk. The people here are some of the closest things to actual friends that are interested in people's success, instead of self benefit. It feels weird telling this to a laser forum, but I do believe this hobby too keeps me going on a better direction. Thanks for the vent session :) boohoo I know lol

Damn pman got me all worked up!

Unfortunately the world rants about "it's all about you" crap. Just tells everyone to be selfish. Shameful but that's where the world is going. Eerything is unfair and the government should take care of us. Work for what you have and want and don't expect a thing from anyone and your life will be better for it. Give freely and expect nothing in return and if you lend to someone realize that you may not get whatever it is back and be ready for that if it happens. We all stress about too much stupid stuff that just doesn't matter.
Ha, there I go again. Honestly though, you are making my day. If I can encourage you in any way I'll try. You've been through some stuff now let it go and never look back. One day at a time and as they say, tomorrow is another day and there's nothing bad in it yet;)
Think I can get away with it though since I started the thread:)
I mean no harm by my statements guys so try not to take offense. Just me squawking....

On to lighter things! Pman your package. Not the one that hurts the one you sent...... I honestly don't have words. Lol you sent my son's favorite treat too! As well as mine. You can't be serious. My girl got mad and asked how much did I spend. Lol. Thanks is so... Not worthy. These things are inspiring to say the least. Just wow.

I'm just glad it got there.
I totally screwed up when I sent him some units. I sent the batteries that go with them but totally blew it when I accidentally left them in the units. Meant to separate them out. VERY little chance of anything turning itself on but you never know and there's a catastrophic lithium battery melt down.
I was in a big hurry and when I realized what I did it was too late.
Don't need anyone slapping me as I've beat myself up bad enough over it.

As for your girl, he honestly did not spend a dime:)
Make him share the twizzlers;)

I will ask one thing though. Did I send a 650 or 405 adjustable focus pen? Been talking so much about the glow in the dark stuff wish it would have been the 405 if it wasn't.
You can unscrew the top completely to see how I did it. Totally makes sense when you look at it and the tutorial on how to do it. Just be careful as there is likely a tensioning spring there that might fall out. It's just there to help keep the lens steady (they are in every unit).
Now play around even with the lowest mw one in the dark and tell me it's not still cool. That's the point. I have all these great and powerful units but the truth is I hardly touch them. A set of those pens for about $12 and you can have a green laser that is cool on its own and build 2 relatively powerful match lighting balloon popping glow in the dark making units. How can you beat that. If something goes wrong with one the loss in $ is very little. They are cool enough though that you won't want them to fail.
You absolutely do not have to spend a ton of $ to own some nice things.
I rarely touch any of my powerful units. I seriously doubt a single one of them has more than 5 minutes run time and I have never ever run a single set of my batteries down to where they HAD to be recharged. Most of my fun comes from building inexpensive units and playing with inexpensive pens.

That's the first thing I did. Walked in and said pman got you something too! You've made another friend for life lol. I'm still sorting the madness. Taking it all in.

How'd that happen?

So Pman, if you were looking for an electrically conductive epoxy where would look. I'm not having any luck.

You did send a 405 and I'm glad you did so I can charge my powder. I will be posting pics of the MS-SSW tonight when it dries.

Good, sort stuff out and find things to put stuff in. It's nice not having to search through a giant pile of parts.
Something that I really like for seperating parts is these waterproof boxes that Walmart sells in the fishing section.
Plano Stowaway, Guide 3700 Series - Walmart.com
Think I've got 6 of them seperating everything form batteries to pieces/parts from flashlights that I've taken apart.
The inexpensive cases I use to store all my units are from Harbour Freight
18" x 12-3/4" x 6" Aluminum Case

Great, the 405nm is nice so you can change the size of the "dot" on the glow stuff. You could try it on that little bottle of "glo-away" I sent. Just remember how it is put together because you wouldn't want to overtighten it and break the epoxy joint.
Just paint some of that on something white and mess with it.

You know, I had done that search for something like that about a month back and only found really expensive stuff. You cna buy a conductive pen from Radio Shack that is used to essentially trace out your own circuits. This isn't really an adhesive though.
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3964901
They also sell "conductive wire glue"
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12925060

I own both of those products and they do work but are not nothing like having silicone that conducts electricity which would be great. I alwasy thought about would it be possible to have a fine dust of copper mixed with an epoxy. It seems like someone would have come up with something like that to market.
There's a ton of products to conduct heat but not to conduct electricity. I've wanted something like that for forever it seems:(
I'm thinking you are looking for quite a lot of coverage like I am and that's where we run into the problem of nothing out there at any kind of reasonable cost.
That would be a great forum question! Why not start a thread on it?!
