"Pman special"

Said it measured to within a few % of a calibrated meter... I've got my 473 that was metered by another member before it was shipped to me so I'll just cross reference if it's close then I guess it works :)

Link to it on your lumia thread!!!

As far as what the middle section is I honestly don't know other than it micht be correction optics or some hind of filter. Don't have one I can test at the moment without taking a unit apart but you've got my curiosity meter pinging. Will have to take some measurements with and without that section to see what I get when the modules I ordered arrive next week.
I haven't tried to see how low I could set the output to but I'll try that also.

Nice job there Matt! So is that the "Pman special special" or the "extra special" or what?:)
+ REP for running with it;)

Just so eveyone understands, I gave all that stuff away to do as you please. Use them as flashlights if you want or mod them. Not going to hurt my feelings lol

I would say if you were just going to order one I would get:
$1.42 YUERAN YR-034D 0.4*2.0mm Ceramic Alignment Slotted Screwdriver at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I am guessing that the LPM you have coming is like the TEC one in my sig. It actually works pretty good. I am keeping it as a back up in case something happens to my Ophir based one (although if my ophir goes you may see a grown man cry).
I just did a quick test on my TEC based one as I haven't used it in forever. Measured the 3 pens I just got from the new source that had allready been measured with my Ophir and even though it has a slow response, the actual measurement when it stabilized was within 2mw on every one of them from 80 to 123mw. I do know that the accuracy will be farther off when you get into some serious output but for mine it isn't much and it reads low which is a good thing. All you really need to do is send various power level units off to get measured by someone with an Ophir so you know where you stand when you remeasure with your unit. The issue is that unless the measurements are done with the same battery charge the results could be potentially way off especially on the high output units.
Do you have a link to what you bought?

Is there a link to the discs or did you buy them all? Can't seem to find 2 for $5.

Do the krzyazn sipik sinks allow for use of the original, plastic aspheric lens that was installed in the sliding head, and for the head to travel far enough to put the diode in the FP of the aspheric? I cannot afford to turn my own sinks, but for ~$20, might have to go for those eventually. Maybe can chop a heatsink down a bit to have the LD mounted a bit farther back or something

No, I don't think so. I have to glue the head n place so that the contact board doesn't rotate independently, and the aluminum heatsink actually goes pretty far down into the host.

If you guys want a sink but are pressed for cash, I'll see if I can get them to you guys for just bare material costs.

Yes the amount of room for a driver in one of those sinks is already tight. Don't know if its even possible to make room. Good idea tho....

So planned on turning mine into a nice laser but the GF stole it for using to go out with the dog. She is afraid to use any of my flashlights since they are all like $60+ so had to order one to mod......waiting on the dang slow boat from HK :(

To go along with what I posted above in post #214 concerning
https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf/home/projector-optics-mirrors-dicros-lenses-motors

I just took all the parts out and stuck them in bags with labels and there are multiple lenses that you can put in front of your laser to make it focus to burn;). Posted this in the pen tutorial for someone who doesn't want to take the focusing challenge.
All you need to take everything apart is a small phillips head like for glasses size screws. Couldn't be easier.
Don't know how many he has but they are a great buy.
