Another way is to right click on the image in Windows, go to properties and click the details tab. All the EXIF data will be listed there.

Very well presented and an extremely important point made. Great tips, too. Thanks for posting this.

This is a great thread as I don't think there is an excuse for horrible photos. My phone takes amazing photos and I can get pretty small objects in good zoom. So as it was said even the cheap eBay camera takes a decent picture :)

I now have a samsung galaxy SIII and it takes wicked photos with its 8mpx shooter compared to my iphone 4. And if thats flat, I also have the ipad 3 (insurance replacement), and that also has a pretty good 5mpx shooter in it. I will also try and get one of those panasonic or whatever they are pz10 cams as apparently they are also a good shooter, especially for close ups.

I had a DSLR but have not upgraded it since I gave it to a friend. The old D50 was a reasonable SLR, but lenses got horribly expensive for the decent ones. The only thing I miss is the controllability in manual mode. I'll get another ona after I finish my projector (whatever mid range better model Canon has out, as most of my friend shoot canon SLRs)

Moral: I should have no excuse to post crappy pics ;)

Edit:
And since I have to turn up the font on the screen for computer use a little to avoid eyestrain, it turns out my defaults were blowing photos up to football stadium size - but my suggestion still stands; there are some stupidly big photos posted on the forums that could be downsized from refrigerator size to postcard sized, and still have enough clarity that the more interested parties (or those that want to help) can click through to the bigger kitchen appliance sized image :p

A suggestion - why not implement an auto-sizer into these boards? No matter the size, the forum will automatically resize the image to fit within the allotted range, so that it is perfectly visible.

It eliminates the need for a thread like this and eliminates the need for a user to resize each image. All in all, a smoother post requiring no moderation.

An example of this can be found here:
My Laser Came In Today! Lazerer Rifle 1.5W - XboxMB - Xbox Message Boards

I think this would help enormously, I hope you give it consideration.

Note that this has nothing to do with the terrible quality of some photos.
