I purchased a 100mW green laser module from dealextreme.com

Would all I need to do is hook it up to a hobby box and a 3v power source?

Depends on the module, some take 3.7V. Most take 3V.

You may want to consider a heatsink as well, to wick away the heat. Your diode will be much happier if you do.

Heatsinking is a must. The 100mW green is pumped by a 1 Watt 808nm IR diode and the brass module can become hot if left alone.

Thanks for the help guys.

Laser module came through to the post office last week, will pick it up today.

I'll also grab a heatsink like the one linked above from a hardware store.

If I don't get a heatsink and it overheats, what are the dangers?

and of course don't forget you will need eye protection. 100mW can blind.
