I understand, thank you for the help on future projects tho :). Deal extreme has some nifty finds. Also: Anyone that can make custom heat sinks? if not i could go about it myself.
 





I don't know how the PHR heats. Is it very hot @ 100mA? Maybe you can find a host that fits the aixiz without any extra heatsinking.

You can ask custom heatsinks for other members, but it will be expensive.. The more cheap you can get is buy a full kit
 
On the current zink-air buttons cells can provide:
Button cells have a limited current drain; for example an IEC PR44 cell has a capacity of 600 milliamp-hours (mAh) but a maximum current of only 22 milliamps (mA).
Not so useful when you have to make series of 3 and parallel 5 of those series for a total
of 15 button cells to get 4.5V and 100mA.

I've done my research on my batteries i have coming in. They are 1.5V HEARING AID size batteries, not button cells. They do have a current limit, but its not limiting my system entirely.
I mean: i'm picking the smallest size on the market, i could go a size up and it would do fine, or close.
I read up on that, and it seems fine. If there is an issue with it, i'll have to change my power options: however i don't think there should be...

well in Rog8811's build he made a heatsink for it which holstered the front howsing of the laser diode. I didn't know if it was needed or not, but he had it at 110mA the entire time.
I was planning on using my same host, but changing t he heat shield to a Heatsink, which won't be too hard (aluminum is easy to melt compared to bronze, is also cheap, and can be molded easily).

Edit: in other news i just got my module in :) it fits nice along the bic lighter: how do you get the lense out? XD i'm uber exited. nvm found out how to :P this is nifty.

Hearing aid batteries are button sized zinc-airs.
Do you have a link to these batteries your getting, please?

And i apologize: that is the way that they are categorized in a separate size bank on wiki.

I mean, now that i got the module i see i have a lot more room now than i thought. So i could probably fit in AAA size batts.

Edit: if they don't work, i'll get Alkaline. xD And drat 1.4V so...8.6 volts instead of 9, false advertisement. XD
Then what battery will fit in there? i'll give dimensions of the space left soon, there is huge space on the left side (where the button is* and some space on the right side/middle. Not enough to fit a AA in either of them, but a triple A would fit snugly. I found a 12V Sanyo Ultra Alkaline Battery Size 23AE-12 volts that would be perfect but i don't know its life, nor its uses. + its 12 volts...those wouldn't work either. Their mAH is only 33 (fail) wish i could find a good High power, small space battery.

And: i know you guys are recomending change my housing for simplicities sake: however: i want to give this a shot+ not like my diode will be shot and my housing will be messed up i'll just go "oops, well, this housing won't work then." it cost a buck anywho :P

Ok: quick edit: probably if anything will need a exterior battery device of some kind: 9V battery holder of some kind...it won't look too bad, just a slight modification.
 
I recommend two 10440 (maybe two 14500, aa size).. anyways the thing will be big, at least give the diode more juice. :beer:
 
Oh well, I don't remember the PHR correct voltage but, if you are going to stick to a single 10440, you may need to use a resistor to limit current (or a flexdrive, pretty more expensive and a little big maybe).
 
I would aim for 2: I can fit 1 on each side if it werent for the module. If I stuck JUST with the front of the module: it would work.
 
do it then; but with two 10440s you will need a driver, make sure some driver fits.
 
The idea was to use jib's mini: I got the AAA battery holder which would make a nice comfy fit after a slight modification to the host.
but is 7.4 Volts enough to drive the beast?
 
Would, if my intent to burn things with this laser, need a focus? or should i not use the focus if that is my plan? that is the lense from my Aixis module that i got in the mail today >,<
