PHR-803T HD-DVD diodes GB# 3 <CLOSED>

Re: PHR-803T HD-DVD diodes GB# 3

Even if better and stronger diodes come out, $25 is still a great price for a violet laser that can do 100mW on average. Those PS3 sleds I still have sitting around are still quite nice despite being outclassed by these PHR-803Ts. I just don't feel as bad when they burn out as before.

Re: PHR-803T HD-DVD diodes GB# 3

THANK GOD FOR McDONALDS WIFI!!!

Otherwise I'd have to spend 20 minutes on .75 cents a minute updating the list!!!

This group buy is going fast, I think partially because Geekz.com isnt selling those drives anymore. And availability, I can't guarantee anything, but I am guessing maybe 2 or 3 GB's to go.

now to go update that list...

Re: PHR-803T HD-DVD diodes GB# 3

Put me down for 6 for the moment.

May upgrade, but 6 is a good number for now :)

Total: ##! that's good for less than 4 days LOL
People have been luring at this thread for much longer, and that has to be taken into account too.

Re: PHR-803T HD-DVD diodes GB# 3

All my diodes from the last GB have gone down the drain as I was pushing them too far! :'( I just couldn't resist the temptation for more power. Count me in for 10 sleds this time mate.

Cheers.

Have you shared your data and experience? Did I just miss it somewhere? Let us know how hard you pushed them. I think I have mine running on the edge. How far did you get them to keep running at.

Peace,
dave

Same question here. If you don't have a power meter it's next to impossible to find the max of those diodes, and they differ significantly among each other. In the past I have used an infrared thermometer, but it's only suitable for finding a rough curve of one diode, not to compare them with each other, which is exactly what you'll need when you want to push diodes. If you don't even have that, just run them at 120mA.

Remember, destructively testing them is useless if you can't learn from it, and you don't learn from it when they differ like they do and you don't have records of mW.

Re: PHR-803T HD-DVD diodes GB# 3

Ah crap. I've been going over the finances, and my calculator is telling me this ain't a good idea at the moment.

Sorry amkdeath, I'm pulling out :( I'll be back in a later group buy hopefully :)
