Osram 450 question

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried cooling one of the osram 450nm diodes with a TEC? I've seen that the M140s, and especially the 9mm 445s, seem to get quite an efficiency boost when cooled well below room temperature (something I plan on exploiting in my next build) and I was wondering if the 450s might benefit from being chilled down as well.

Double thread?

I dont think anyone has cooled that particular diode, but its stands to reason that it will help it. Diode lasers in general benefit form active cooling, while dpss lasers benefit from temperature regulation.
 
where will the TEC hide the heat, once it's slurped away from the diode?

I'll be using a fan cooled heat sink on the other side of the TEC.

Now, how do I delete the duplicate of this thread I accidentally created?

why spend all that crap on a TEC if a big heatsing works just as good
 
Well, if you want to get below room temperature ambient you really need TEC. Not that I know anything about 445 performance below 30c or so.

I just use the Z-bolt heat sinks and an aggressive fan.
 
shifting a few nm and maybe 10 - 100 mW extra power , not visible for the eyes :)
 
Will just shift closer to 445, use less mA for same output, not worth it IMO.

Red on the other hand, cool them like the ice age is back in fashion and reap the rewards.
