Thanks Rivem, it seems to be working well. Discovered I'm going to need some kind of shroud over the camera lens. The Laser is to close to the camera, it picks up to much light. Thinking a shroud or shield over the lens for about 6" ish, might just do the trick. :thinking:

Bob, f/16 is a good choice as it gives a great depth of field, giving you a great photo where "most/all things are in focus" so to speak.

The other big factor in colour accuracy is White Balance.
I usually set it to 'DayLight".
Stay away from Auto White Balance because you'll get variable results with each situation.

A 6" shield on the lens will probably create a vignette effect and is not really desirable.
Did the lens come with a lens hood?
Try using that if it did and see how you go.
If not, then let me know which lens you are using and I can find out about how to create a cheap paper lens hood for it that will not cause any vignetting.

Shield the laser from the camera.
 
Yeah I like that idea too, Steve.
Also Bob, you might try rotating everything to the left so the camera is facing away from and in front of the laser body making the laser behind the camera, facing the same way {still drinking my morning coffee :thinking: }.

Also from the Amazon link it looks like you have the 18-55mm kit and 75-300mm f/4-5.6.
It's up to you if you want to order the orginal hoods.
Here's the pdf paper cutouts to try.
These are the correct ones for the crop sensor in your camera.
Just click on the actual designs, ignore the ad links, that will open the pdf.

Do you have two lasers? For the cylindrical one I'd look for a tube that can slip over the body. The other looks square. Perhaps some cardboard taped on the side facing the camera?
 
spray paint a paper towel tube(black flat) try it--then cut to size you want..

Hey, Len. Good to see you again. Was worried about you when the news of all the flooding hit. Did your property come out okay? It looks like this is going to be the new normal for weather. Nice of Trump to decree that increases in coastline shoring due to climate change would no longer be used. Might not be any money for Texas because of the stink after Hurricane Sandy in the east last time. Hope not, but that's what some republicans are saying. Take care, buddy.

Sounds good Hakzaw, that's kinda what I was thinking of trying, stick the laser in. If it works cheap, easy, and replaceable, a win win.

Ps. still planning on sending you show pics via pm of the dot on my Kamataka and see what your thoughts are. :thinking:
