The NUBM34 Laser Blaster

I decided to build a laser blaster using the NUBM34 laser diode array. This thing is insane! I ran two rows of diodes in parallel to the other two. Very nice, the nubm34 looks to be better collimated than my plpm4l-450b, how big is your cluster @ 5 meters....never mind, I see you posted a new clip, looks like they have the beams run together as they diverge as about as well as possible, what you need now is a big beam expander. :)
Did you modify that driver or will it play as is ? I see you chose to wire your array as two strings series parallel so as to stay within the drivers range.

I used the driver as is. It's very stable and works well. Haven't noticed it get hot at all.
The divergence is pretty good for what it is. I'm going to play around with some optics to see what I can do with the beam.

That’s the best idea I have seen so far for making these diodes into a portable format .I bow down and thank you for the inspiration! I see a trip to harbor freight in my immediate future !

Nice! With such good cooling (especially in winter) I'd imagine that the batteries would die before the laser overheats lol

Placing cylindricals on each beam isn't practical so I think your best bet for getting a tighter spot/cluster downrange would be making a beam expander by using a concave + convex to shrink your spot size at distance like I was testing with here, once you have your concave and convex lens you could talk to Rich/Lifetime17 about making you a zoomable tube housing, basically a big beam expander.
