I'm not trying to start anything here. Just clearing the air.And also, as to your beloved Suzie or Faona, I can pretty much guarantee that it is some dude named Zan Lee or some other Chinese crap.
Thats all nice and true, but rayfoss should not guarantee that their lasers are going to be up to spec when they are not. If they want to guarantee that the laser is 200mW they either need to get a better supplier, or lower the specs of the laser to represent what it actually is.
And If they are going to give promises, such as a IR filter to be installed or batteries and chargers to be sent with the laser then they should do so. In my opinion rayfoss will say whatever it takes to get you to buy the laser. They know that you will probably not go through all the trouble to return it. Those of us on this forum are lucky enough to get this information before we buy a laser, but random people who buy lasers from them without seeing this forum will think they are getting a 200mW laser, when in reality they are getting a 100-130mW laser.
They are preying on the misinformed or underinfored. I think that is very bad business tactics. Sure, the laser might be a good deal, 100mW of green for $130 bucks, but it should not be advertised as a 200mW green laser because it is not!
Just think about some what-if's for a moment...
If someone sells you a car and says it has antilock brakes, do you actually check? Most people would not know what to look for and would go on driving as if they had ABS. Now, that person is in a situation where he needs to use his ABS brakes. Knowing he has ABS, he floors the pedal and keeps it there. Unfortunately for him the car salesman lied and he actually does not have ABS. That poor bastard slides right into a crash. If he knew it didn't have ABS he could have pumped the pedal and avoided a crash. The car was so cheap he probably still would have bought it if it didn't have ABS but the salesman just wanted a sale and really didn't care what happened to that guy anyway. That salesman would be sued and probably jailed!
Now, you have a laser buyer. He knows an IR filter is something a laser really needs to be safe with only 1 pair of goggles. He asks rayfoss to put an IR filter on his laser and they agree to do so. This guy goes out and puts on his green safety glasses thinking his laser has an IR filter. He shines that 100mW of green and 80mW of IR at a match from close range. The goggles stop the green, but the IR goes through unnoticed. He looses some vision, temporarily or permanently, but the sad part is it could have been avoided.
Rayfoss could have said, "were sorry we cant put an IR filter on" and they guy could have got one somewhere else or took the right precautions. He probably still would have bought the rayfoss laser, but rayfoss doesn't care. They made the deal and thats that.
I don't understand why more people are not mad about that, being underpowered is one thing, but telling someone safety devices were installed when they weren't is unacceptable to me.
Cam, if you do decide to get that laser, you need to check it for IR. I wouldn't be surprised if it half IR like the rest of Rayfoss' lasers. You can search and find a easy way to check with a digital camera or something similar.
@pontiacg5 (don't wana quote that whole thing) I just want to thank you for finally posting a good post that actually provides useful information without being biased or calling me names. I would have reped you but for some reason it says I can't.
I read it all but other than the above, I have no further comment.

PS: please stay this way? Don't regress to what you have been the past few days.
