New high power 405nm diode?

Hopefully some of your other suppliers you mentioned to me will come through soon, as I would miss not being able to do business with you, I hope it doesn't come down to that. This certainly is NOT about you (Igor), truly it's not; I have firm conviction's I live by.

I was never getting anything from her. This here started, when i started the thread.

You are misunderstanding almost everything at this point. I am in Amk's 6x GB, for your and many other 6x's. It's a long story and has nothing to do with this here. I told you most of it, as it progressed, but it's a mess, so it's easy to get confused.


I started this thread, when Kage and Jay informed me of the diode, and i decided to put Susie to the test. My first thought was, that she is selling PHRs as a 120mW diode. If so, i wanted it exposed. But if on the other hand she had stumbled upon real 100mW diodes by pure luck, well...

In any case, i wanted to find out the truth. And i saw it as a possible alternative, if everything else goes bad. I know your position (to it's full extent now), so this here has nothing to do with you.


For now, please allow me to do this my way, before Susie uses you as an excuse to get out of this.
 
Wow, I didn't even notice this thread until just a few min ago! I was just thinking of PM'ing you Igor, and suggesting you go "public", since it seems the best way to get these things resolved at times...

On her site there is now a part number for the diode - LD405120HJ7.

If this is real, I wonder if it could drive down the prices of the 6X sleds, when suppliers find we have access to another source.. ;) Of course I realize everything is just IF. :-?
 
I really doubt anything we do here will drive down sled prices. We are just a small group of hobbyists, among their whole range of customers who actually buy and use the sleds for their intended purpose..in optical reader/writer drives.

Actually, i was just talking to some sled suppliers, and they were worried about too many people ordering at once, which could "disturb their price", as they put it...

GBs DO drive down the price of sleds..


Otherwise, with the real 6x's finally popping up, i guess this issue here is not so important anymore.. Altho i still want to test the diode, simply to establish a new baseline, by having a diode WITH a datasheet.

Kage, please take a look at the new data very carefully (Vr, Ith, Iop), and then compare it to the datasheet i posted on page one.

There is something very wrong with the new info.
 
The one on the top is the original and bottom one the the [highlight]"NEW"[/highlight] version ;D :o

I don't see the [highlight]200mW[/highlight] Pulse and Operating Current doesn't look right. :o ;D

mmmm.... Not so sure about this. Looks like there's some inconsistency here. These must be the most efficient diodes ever imagined! I'd buy one to test, but if the supplier can't even make up their minds what type of diode it is, then the most I'd pay is $40.00 shipped, to test. After extensive testing, then maybe I'd be willing to give more $$.

I just cheched the other datasheets, and they specify Min. and Typ., but not Max., for the slope efficiency... This datasheet specifies Typ. and Max., but not Min. But the typical slope efficiency actually matches other known datasheets. And there are always occasional freak diodes.


I still think the original datasheet is real. But the new info is not a datasheet, but possibly a bad attempt at a summary. No laser diode can withstand 5V reverse voltage, for example, and the operating currents are all wrong. But.. There is an explanation for all this, but i don't want to say anything just yet.

Yea, the more I look at that data sheet, the more it just don't add up. Typical threshold current of 25mA, yet Operating at 35mA, with 100mW output - that just don't make any sense to me. ::) Must be damned efficient diode. I don't think I could survive another fall off a turnip truck... ;)

The old thing was a part of the datasheet. The new thing is NOT the datasheet, it is a "product description" based on the datasheet. Looselly, at best.. ;D

I wonder what it will say tomorrow.. ::)
Luckily i save every version of it..
 
Hey, Igor, at the bottom the First data sheet it clearly states these diodes are "Class 4....." Maybe they are 12X or 16X ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
