New 462nm Diode?

Oh wow! I thought you had missed the boat on the HP MM 462's but nope there is a new diode in town. WTF is with all the new diodes????? I love it but I cannot keep up.

Doubt it's single mode... its probably called M462 from a M140 being the same size.

Yeah I saw that, I can't wait to hear more about it and see the testing results.

Damn right. I once dreamed of building a laser with each one of every diode DTR sells but now I wont live long enough.

For real though, it seems like every time I tackle one he gets two more haha.

I was just about to say thats been there for a while , but its ANOTHER 462nm!
yea cant wait for results and beam specs in comparison to the NDB7675, I think 462nm will be my next handheld

This is good! It means that someone, more than likely has found a source to supply out of spec M140's. This is not just good for those wanting to push these latest 2 different diodes up to near 473nm but it means that people (DTR) are out there looking to source these out of spec diodes. I am really interested and am sure others are in some low 520nm and some low 538nm's, So how about it Jordan, Maaaate! Is there a possibility that you might be able to get hold of a stash of any of these as well?:D

Why is everyone so intent on thinking 462 diodes are just binned 445's? Theres hardly a shred of evidence to support the theory, and if these are indeed coming from projectors, you really think a company like ca$io would rely on binned diodes for their mass produced projectors?

Well there's no evidence that I've read saying that they are definitely different diodes. The only thing is that these have a central wavelength similar to a known diode that centers at 462nm. I've never seen anyone come out and say "yes, I can confirm these are actually ___."

Everybody thinks they're high WL 445's because these act accordingly with our current 445's being run at higher wavelength instead of higher power.

Plus, I don't think DTR is pulling these from projectors. The first batch popped up as a lot of (7?) on feebay.

It's entirely possible these are new diodes -- and a large quantity are leaking out before they show up like most other diodes do. I'll believe whatever has the best evidence backing it.

I'm inclined to believe these are projector pulls, thus why he named them similar to the M140's. Wonder if they go as high as the 9mm ones.

Prices are up, a bit disappointing, they are not that much cheaper than the 9mm. Hopefully they will be as strong and convergent as the M140s
