New 2w 808nm Handheld Laser

How is the positive connected to the heatsink? In the screw hole, is that an actual hole there and if so why?

Maybe there is a wire connected to the body of the flashlight? ::)
Or maybe there is a positive contact for the battery that is connected to the body.
Think about it...

These diodes are case-positive.
 
I understand that, but I dont get the pole that the negative is wrapped around. In some of the pictures it looks like a rusty stick is coming down from the brass lens holder on the inside and that it would be touching the pole on the heat sink. I don't know much about c-mounts atm.

It works the same way as any laser diode, only the polarity is opposite of reds. The case is positive and the "wire" coming from the diode is negative. The case is connected to the heatsink which makes contact with the positive side of the battery. The negative wire is connected to the "rusty post" which is isolated from the heatsink and connected to the negative contact of the driver. The driver's positive contact is in contact with the heatsink...
 
Ok that makes sense. So really all i need is those voltage regulators from dx and thats my driver. In the pics how is that pole isolated from the heatsink? Im just wondering because that seems like it might be the more dificult part of the build.
 
The "pole" can be isolated from the heatsink easily. Pick your pole material, thick copper wire, a thin nail, etc. Take a length of heatshrink and shrink it over the pole. Drill through your heatsink to allow the now insulated pole to pass through. Epoxy or cyanoacrylate in place. C-mount diode is case positive, so laser is positive ground. Battery "+" tip touches tailcap, negative goes through switch to negative side DX current regulators, and out through the isolated "pole" to negative flaplead of diode.
 
I gotta start utilizing heatshrink more lol. Once im out of college im getting a garage to make stuff easier. Thanks for the c-mount help.
