Need a Laser to kill Spiders (!!)

Hello, may the most of you dont have any problems with Spiders but i really(!) hate them and im scared of them. I know there is no reason but i cant help it.

I love the Idea of burning a Spider from 3 meter distance off the wall. (Cant kill them on another way, ... im really panicing)

So i wanna know what 'Power' (Hurrhurr) do i need to burn them within ~ 5secs (Dont want them to hide to fast, else i could try to lure them to a free spot with an other Pointer and.... burn them) - But i dont wanna burn my (white) wall.

I really thought about buying the S3 Arctic 1W but i did not read good things about it. Andi wanna be "sure" that i got a good "Spider-killer"-Laser.

Dont wanna spend more than 300 euro (~400 USD) for it. (with glasses)

Regular flyswatter or even a broomstick works fine for me, I am also very terified of spiders, severe arachnophobia ever since I've known about them.

No laser today will fry them instantly. They will run away real fast after being touched by high power beam.

It would be more effective to blast them with a shutgun then to try burn them with a laser, suckers can take a lot of beating and you'd most likely get them to hide in some unreachable location like under your bed or something and just make things worse.

Sorry, this is a scientific forum after all We do not kill animals with lasers here.

Even if we could, I doubt we would.

Just get somebody near you who is not that afraid of spiders to take it outside or something. Killing is never a solution.

Not sure if it can be done with <500mW.
Spiders are pretty tough... Check out this one against a 400mW hulk.

I've seen the video, thats why i thought about the 1W Laser... Double the power should be effective...

The Main problem is: I got a really small Flat. And i think the big spiders rest under my Bed.. (They really like the wall above it) There are days i sleep at my GF's place just to avoid the pure evil "monster under my bed and above it"...

If i cant live my life without creating situations to avoid them or just sleep somewhere else it would be very hard...

Hope some1 can help me.

I have used My Arctic on Black Widows & Brown Recluses in My garage, and they are damn hard to kill but not impossible. You have to track them for quite a number of seconds before they give up running, and you can toast them till they pop. Baby spiders don't last long at all, but as others have said spiders are pretty tough and not easy to kill.

IR would be your better bet... For one, they cannot see it, but the problem there is neither can you :thinking:

I know that 1W of 445nm with kill a fruit-fly on contact, but a spider will require more power and fast steady hands...

I hate spiders and those brown centipedes that look hairy due to the amount of long legs (shivers thinking about them).

I prefer a nice hot butane torch personally, they work like a charm.

Another solution is placing large glue boards in the areas frequented by the target insects. They help control any insect population within your dwelling.

The problem you'll have is different species of spider have different albedos. Some are dark black/brown and will burn easier, while others are very pale yellow and will be very difficult to burn.

Also, any laser that will reliably burn a spider when focused at infinity (because you won't have time to constantly adjust your focus as you dance and gibber like a child wetting it's pants... and the spider makes a run for it...) will likely burn or set fire to other things in your apartment/flat.

I suggest something like this: Electronic Fly Swatter and just tie it to a broomstick etc.

They used to make a version on a long pole for people with spiders up in the corners of high ceilings, but I don't see it on their site anymore.

Horrible is understatement.

OP, if you really have to get rid of spiders, I reccomend thorough extermination, move and remove all yoour furniture and get rid of them bastards. Then just keep stuff in control.

Will require a day or two of dedicatied time though.

How big spiders are we talking about?

An Electronic Fly Swatter... i got one... but its useless! I bet its strong enough but how can you reach a spider with it without getting "hit" by "it"!?

Can of Axe + Lighter = Black Wall + a burning spider falling down and may burn something else (done something like this some years ago... wasnt a "win")

I thought about something like that:

2. evil spider on the wall

4. profit (dead spider)

This animal (Scutigera coleoptrata) is very useful to kill some little pests such as mites and mosquitoes) and, as i always repeat during my lessons at university, they don't should be killed!
If you want to kill spiders by means an high energy beam (for fun and sporadically) I suggest the Wicked Laser Torch... it's very effective with its 400 °C

It's effective at burning itself out , I watched some video , professional review of the Torch and it died in first minute of operation and when they fixed the connection the light bulb fried and that's few hundred dollars into the drain.

I would not buy that thing.

Besides a regular broomstick does a good job at killing pests.
