finally got some time to make a complete thread about the newest diode on our laser world sharp GH04850B2G the chameleon light as i named it because i can't tell what color really is as its always changing on my eyes depending the enviroment and other lights.
i was planning to upload images from the building process but i encountered a problem with my driver and got pissed while i was trying to see what i was doing wrong, problem solved with another driver though at the end but i completelty forgot to take pics while i was trying to make the things work.
also i just hate that light for one reason,it made my 505nm build look nice green and my 520nm to look like 532nm and the 532nm as yellow ,it messed up my brain
here is the the host i used, its kinda small and takes one 14500 battery and the diode runs with a astralist's pico drive set at 190ma without heatsinking,i used a kind of big aluminum heatsink with fins as so many of you noted that this diodes runs hot. power is around 75mw with acrylic or 3 element lenses
now for the interesting part that seen many posts about what lens is better for those diodes to get rid of the box reflection, personally after testing both acrylic and 3 element 520nm coating lens i prefer the 2nd choice and here is why:
this is the reflections from acrylic lens
and this is with the 3 element green coating lens
the output power is the same with both lenses +-3mw so power isn't something to worry about.
another thing that i don't like on the acrylic lens is that it does have a fade reflection box still there, here is the photo of it,im blocking the dot with my finger to let my camera pick it better,it is a fader that it look like though.
3 element has a fade relfection of it also but it is barely visible at all.
couple of beamshot of this awesome color.
this is the box reflection with a G2 when i first test it.
those are with 3 element lens beamshots
