It's worth waiting if you have to and buy good parts, I have been playing around with some GBall diodes won at auction from China, and after a few weeks running without the can they have gone from strong to weaker than a wet soda cracker.
Funny test I just did, I had a weakened NUBM06 with no lens running and held a piece of cardboard in front of it until it finally started to smoke, and as soon as that smoke got into the module and on the diodes emitter it went just about out completely,it's practically a LED now.
The NUBM44's I have are still setting cardboard alight a year later, I think I will stick with the 44 from now on, they really are the best and you have ready options to put the output to use.
I will have to post my next mid range leaf burner, they are lots of fun, with all safety precautions observed of course.
