I recently got a laser from survival lasers (1.4 watt blue kit) And a diode from dtr. And i put it togeather following the instructions EXACTLY! I cut the diode wires to 1&1/2" and soldered them to the driver wires.I'm not the BEST at soldering but i got them stuck togeather. I did have ONE tiny little problem... When i was soldering the negative wires togeather the heatshrink tubing "shrunk" to the driver wire so not wanting to cut the whole thing off i used electrical tape, and after seeing the laser didnt work i took it off... Still didnt work... Did the electrical tape somehow poop on the whole laser?! :wtf: And yes i put the batteries in the right way. (negative towards the tail cap) And no i didnt let the wires spin when i put on the crown. (top) So what are some reasons my laser isnt working? Because i'm completely stumped right now.

Are the batterys fresh? Check carefully for any shorts. Always start by checking the basics. Also if it's at all possible, Can you please post some pictures? I can't see the electrical tape doing anything, especially since it wasn't working before you used it, If it was, ,maybe in the process of removing it broke a connection.

Yes the batteries are quite fresh and i dont know how to post pics....

There really are so many things. I would start by taking the host out of the equation. If you have desoldered the diode I would be sure to tap the two driver output wires together before reconnecting it to the diode to discharge any possible charge in the driver. Then after resodering the diode to the driver I would try powering the driver directly from the batteries to rule out any bad contacts in the host. Pictures would help.

Take some pictures. Upload them to imageshack.com then use the insert image button in the reply tools
insertimage.gif
and copy the link that says "direct" on image shack when you uploaded them.:)

It's not the connection wires because i just redid the WHOLE thing. So it must be a jank driver/module? It's your module DTR and i trust you so i doubt it's the module...

do you have a - input into the driver via the host solidly? I've had that problem a few times myself. if you have a test load see what the driver is outputting so that you can diagnose this further.

i dunno how to test the driver.... Could it be the batteries? I charged them but could they be poopy?

Ulrtafire 123a. And it's not the batteries because i just tried some other ones. Okay well SOMEONES getting a refund! :tsk:

How do i tell if the driver is outputting power? I have a power meter but it doesnt work... Any suggestions?

Well I would disconnect the diode at this point,

You would need a test load

ok i will disconnect the diode... And a test load is???

I'll tell you but there is a search bar right above...

You can test the output of a driver in mv but mv = mA with ohm laws

Ahhhhhhh well im just gonna buy the 1.8a driver. I was gonna get the 1.8a driver anyway. And if it STILL doesnt work ill get a new diode from DTR.

Your diode is likely alive unless your driver outputted like 2Amps+ which I highly doubt :)
