Greetings! Laser enthusiast, this is my first laser review.

laser name: pl - 445nm 500 - 1600mw

company : laserbtb.com / sky lasers

Price: $147 - for me it was £90 with £25 shipping.

Production time around 4 days after order was placed and then despatched friday 3/1/14 arrived today - 6/1/14 so 3 days.

now i do not currently own a LPM at the moment so i cannot tell you the current output but as I've seen from other members on this forum, laserbtb laser's can be over spec so I'm presuming that this laser is actually around 1600mw but someone on the forum has had this exact laser tested at 1900mw

I've only ever owned 532nm 50mw green laser pointers and a 200mw red pointer and i have to say this laser actually scares me the beam is seriously intense and can be seen very easily in daylight outdoors it litterally ignites anything it comes in contact with without focus when focused to the burning point of the beam it takes apart my black leather wallet leaving a lot of smoke.

it has a nice heavy feel in the hand, and looks very finely engineered all nicely oiled "screw parts"

The aluminium box it came in lock's do not work AT ALL. Which I'm not too bothered about long as the keys for the laser work.

Here are some pictures I've taken with an iPhone 5 best to my ability.

EDIT: made burning video

Nice review Adam and well done on getting the laser so quickly. (I saw you make a post on the 29th saying you'd just bought it). I bought one of these also and it's still not arrived yet but I live in hope that it will arrive sometime soon.

Just watch you don't burn holes in stuff unintentionally, I imagine it's quite easy to do!

Love the look of the pl. Very professional. God a great laser. How long can you run it before it get a bit to warm? For that price and the quality of the laser, this is a steal. Now you need a lpm!

i know its probably my best looking host, i left the laser on for 2 minutes and it started to get a tiny bit warm only just noticeably but on the label it states " duty cycle 5 - 10 minutes on and 1 minute off " , but yes defiantly well worth the $$$

now I'm just waiting for darkness :can: then my fun begins :shhh:

Thats a solid duty cycle. Nice laser, I like the very industrial look of the host. I just got my first high power laser a few weeks ago (a 1400 mW 445) and I know what you mean by the beam being scary. Just don't make the mistake I did and try focusing it while its aimed at a wall. XD paint makes an awful smell when it burns.

I'd take that duty cycle with a pinch of salt if I were you. On the page @ laserbtb for this very laser someone asked what the duty cycle would be and the reply was 1 minute on 2 minutes off... Very conflicting Information. FYI i see they've also introduced a 2 watt version of this model.

As for my tracking, yes had the number for over a week, and for exactly a week now my parcel has been sitting at local fedex facility. Even taking Into account holiday period it seems a bit dragged out now and as the delivery cut off date is today I'm gonna phone and see what's what.

Edit: it's just arrived. Major props to fedex and the couriers for meeting the delivery target during these potentially busy times.

I have this laser it runs over 2 watts

However, the led on mine is NOT on when the laser is ready, it only turns on when the laser is emitting a beam :( which kinda sucks cause i wanted the ready light.

Only other problem i have is that the lens shutter is REALLY easy to turn...

Hate the MAC in the background, but lovin Tmack :D Very nice review, that laser looks really good. Shame the only way i can safely get lasers in AUS is by building them :(

Fair enough, that is at least a good way to use a mac :) I only dont like MAC because of the lack of moddability to their products :) Software AND hardware wise :D
