Finally. After about a month, the EPIC GreeNe I bought from daguin is here. I own one more gas laser but it's an argon one. That being said, I figured my collection lacks a HeNe :) Soooooo.. I'll let the pictures do the talking

Dat Epic Packaging :D Took a month to arrive, but it is not Dave to blame it on. At least post offices in Greece are still working, given the current situation. Anyway, I am more than happy it arrived my side in one piece.
All in all, I would like to thank daguin for the deal and I would recommend him without any doubts.

Thanks :thanks:

Thank the Goddess it finally arrived :san:

I was beginning to believe that some customs or post office official had himself/herself a nice green HeNe to play with

If you think Greece has problems, try shipping "anything" into Italy
I've had small packages of lenses (among other things) disappear into that black hole ;)
What in the heck are postal officials going to do with a batch of lenses?

Oh well: All's well that ends well, right?

Enjoy the laser

Peace,
dave

I thought that was what Green HeNe's were for ;)

Mine was like a first draft for others to improve on

Here's Jayrob's take on the idea (much prettier)

I, too, have been inspired to build a HeNe lamp like Jayrobs. I'm look for the right tube(s) though. Some of huge cathodes that hide the bulk of the plasma tube. :(

I've had my fair share of horror stories shipping to Italy.
We no longer ship to Italy unless the buyer is willing to
pay outrageous FedEx or UPS Tracked and Insured
Shipping fees.

@Silvershot...
Glad to see you got a Green HeNe to add to your gas stable.
you can't go wrong getting stuff from Dave...

That's why mine only has just a bit over 1/2 of the tube showing
From where the black starts, the anode shield covers the plasma capillary :(

I have a couple of green HeNe's here that had dead ballasts or shorted wiring.
I'll dig them out and see how hard they will be to remove from the housing

epic postage cover! successful troll is successful :D

There was actually no apparent reason not to have dave mark it as EPIC HeNe laser, but you never really know... Since the last time customs played football with my multiline argon, I no longer trust postage. That's why Dave marked it low value too. The packaging seems to have not been opened when it went through customs, which leads me to believe that they didn't show interest in it at all. It's not my fault that they charge a shitload when they see the actual price on a package. They always try to find a reason to mess with your wallet. Ha Ha
Decorative light that is!

Wow! I hadn't seen that one before. Might be time to start searching for some long tube HeNes.

The plasma channel of a green HeNe is still the same pinkish red color unfortunately.

dr Who called..he wants his night light back..cool novelty light.. let's see it in green

Yeah.
My lamp is a green HeNe.
You can see the green spot on the shelf above the tube.
That question is the actual reason behind my cutting the housing in half.
Gooey Gus and I wondered what the plasma of a green HeNe looked like
After I had the tube cut in half, I had to decide what to do with the laser
I came up with the idea for the lamp from that

The plasma produces all of the HeNe color lines
It is the mirrors (filters) that only let one of the lines through

There are HeNe's that have multi-line optics (and are tunable), but they are very expensive

Peace,
dave
