Multi-element GB (official)

Wow that was quick! Great to hear :D
Good job Mark, once again thank you for running this GB.

I'm just wondering how can be so easy to get all those elements in the USA, also just from internet .....

If i try to go and buy some of them in a chemical shop, here, first they ask me for industrial certifications and safety permissions, then sold me only industrial quantities ..... and if i say that i don't have any permission and that i want just small quantities for hobby works, they look at me as if i'm crazy, and probably call neuro dept :p :D

It was NOT easy to get all these elements. I spent hours upon hours working with the seller, talking to him, explaining to him what I wanted them for, etc.

Many people outside the USA have the idea that you can just go down to your local store and buy chemicals, well, that's not the case. If you can't find it on www.ebay.com (which is international), then you're going to have a hard time finding it at all, regardless of country.

Checkout my new thread on Tungsten:

Mark, perhaps the next element group buy should include Tungsten...

I tried to get tungsten in this one, but my seller did not have any in stock. I will refund the money paid for tungsten to anyone who paid for it.

Next time (if there is a next time) will have tungsten in it.

Also: the elements arrived today!!! I will weigh them out tomorrow and have them shipped as soon as possible. All packages will be out within a week. As always, I will keep you updated on status.

Sorry if my words was sounding as a critic, i ensure you that it was NOT the intention.

I know that it's hard in any country ..... i was just saying that, regardless the difficult to find them, you can at least get them ..... where, instead, in my country, there are so much obstacles and idiotic laws about chemicals, that in no way you can get half of the elements that, in the USA, are sold, also to privates, and also just through internet (in this sense, i was saying "easy" to obtain).

Mine was not a critic to you, so please don't take it as an offense, cause i had no intentions to offend, ok ?

Good to hear you got the materials deliverd... take a picture of the whole bunch, that's always nice to see :)

As for getting chemicals: it must depend widely on the country. Obtaining chemicals here in holland is generally no problem, doesnt require permits or explanation unless really hazardous, but this GB is good value!

For example, if i ordered the bismuth locally, i'd pay 3 times more for it, and probably get powder too.

I'm sorry if I came off too harsh, I didn't mean to. I understand your intentions completely, and I know what you mean. Are there any restrictions on these metals in your country, or are they just hard to obtain?

EDIT: I'll take pictures when I get them all weighed out and packaged up.

When will the next GB be?

I don't know if there will be a next GB...this one was very hard, and it got dragged out quite a long time. I will see about it once all packages have arrived.

Speaking of packages arriving, I cannot be responsible if a package is lost or taken by customs unless you pay extra for insurance; I am not making any money off shipping, probably losing some. If you have paid me extra for priority mail shipping, the switch to vBulletin cleared out my saved PM's, so please send me another one. Otherwise, I will assume that you paid for standard shipping and send your package that way.

Thanks,
Mark

Do you know anywhere else I can get cheap gallium and tugsten?

How much do you need? Tungsten welding rods can be found on eBay for pretty cheap. I may have a small amount of gallium left over that I could sell you, just let me know how much you want. Keep in mind, though, I have some others in line first. I will work this out as soon as I have everything weighed, and I have decided how much of the excess I want for myself.
