More problems with bdr-209

Sounds good. I understand why you are confused due to the way things are labeled. It is confusing when you first get into this. What PI said is correct and I'll double down on this particular diode being more sensitive than some others.
Take a look in the battery section to see what batteries people recommend or figure out what host you want to put this in and we can make suggestions on what to get and where to buy. A rechargeable lithium will be labeled either 3.6 or 3.7V but will charge to 4.2V. Yes there are 3.2V labeled batteries but keep things simple for now and forget about them as hardly anything requires them (Dragon lasers original 1W Spartan does and some of my weird builds do but that's all I can think of). Highly suggest you don't buy any brand that has "fire" in the name such as Ultrafire, Trustfire, True fire etc.
+REP to PI for good advice and continued help for a new member. +REP to theboul for listening to our advice.

405nm diodes are VERY static sensitive, are you wearing a ground strap during assembly?

Hi Red,
Your correct about ESD practice i'm sure many builds fail cause of that and go on un noticed. I myself use a strap and a mat when i build all my units. And i'm sure lots of folks don't use one but that there choice. It's second nature now for me to slip-on a ESD strap.

Hi, If your going to be building get your self a PSU they take the guess work out of a lot of issues . They can be had for as little as the price for an NDB7875 diode. I find this an asset to my equipment and components i have.. Proper tools are a must and you can never have enough in this hobby. My next tool is a Specto but they are pricey..

and just in case of anybody who like to push their diodes at 700ma to get 1000mw+ out of it....The driver should have a soft start/ramp up features over 3 seconds, and duty cycle should be 30 second max....15 sec cool down(if you use a full copper host with 15mm diameter and 10cm length...and use a g2 len. and these BDR tend shift WL to be a lot higher like 410nm+(base on my beam observation side by side with another 12x bluray diode.

some batteries have protection and turn off just get AW's / the AW's dont have this protection uh i remember i placed the batteries wrong and burned everything inside ;)

I've learned that there are different 405 diodes available in the size of 9mm. I cannot however find any testing done with them. Do you know of anything?

The only 405nm diodes that I know of are 3.8mm and 5.6mm. Where would you get a 9mm 405nm diode?

Hi LPF I just finished my third 16x bdr build this time I wasn't gonna push it, I was getting just over 800mw at 600ma on my power supply, I was customising my Sigelli Vape specifically for this wonderful burner, I lost the last one at 600ma so I removed the jumper on my Xboost V7 and set it to max 570ma, it wasn't quite finished yet, I wanted to see that the beam was coming out straight turned it on and off couple times and LED again. This one didn't even last 3 min all up, I'm sooo pissed off, I took extra care with ESD ,extracted vary carefully from sled, pressed and soldered perfectly, this is same Xboost as the previous 16x that died on me the only thing I can think off is some xboosts have a very noticeable ramp up, this one doesn't ,not as noticeable as a couple other lasers I have anyway. I need this wavelength we will have to try again, i might have to settle for the 12x this time. So disappointed, anyone else lost a couple 16x.

Sorry you lost one. Big suggestion. Only units i would try to run on a VV/VW(say try as some error out with a low ohm error anyway) mod are the ones with the X-drive. I would not run any boost driven units on them only use unregulated mech mods using a single Li-ion as the power source.

What exactly are you doing with the vape?

No guys I'm sorry I wasn't more specific, not with a 510 adapter or the internals of the Sigelli just the clicky boost driver and diode, I think it's gonna look magnificent, DTR saved the day again purchased another unit at a huge discount today, what a guy like I said before a lot of care was taken with this one the diode was wonderful for 3 minutes it just wasn't up to it even at 570ma, I will post this build when it's finished, Here,s a quick pic of the unfinished Sigelli.

yes DTR have the best customer service around here. and those blu-ray prefer soft start when turn on.

Yeah I think all the Xboosts V7 have soft start, but I mean a slower ramp up, I have a few different Xboost builds and some have more noticeable ramp up than this one, not sure why.

well i have a 700ma 16x diode that has run over 24 hours of run time and still alive... my driver have slow ramp up over 5 second....
