Microsoft Anti-Piracy will be released this 2/16/2010

bahahhaha... I'm gonna have a load of fun hacking idiots that install poorly thought out DRM updates like this with LINUX and OS X... It's not like stuff like this ever stopped anybody with the ability to run DOS shell commands from getting around it. Right now, I'm guessing the first exploit will be browser based, and take advantage of this "piracy check" protocol to get all kinds of juicy system info.... Not that I plan to do this of course

I installed it....because...Well, I honestly could care less what they do.
Mine is legit and I have nothing to hide.

This update is really meant to alert people who have bought a pirated copy of windows 7, so they contact microsoft and microsoft can get more info about where it bought it from etc etc and try to catch the guys selling it.

LOL, the level of arrogance of microsoft & co is becoming every day more high ..... they tried til now in a lot of ways, to take the complete control of all the PC of the users ..... backdoors, auto-updates, WGA/OGA, so-called "online suites" like office online (and google, too), DRM, hidden executable tracks inside wmv and mov files, "trusted computing" bs, and now this ..... just the last step, for now, til they maybe pop out from their hole with some other new and worse bs .....

btw, the solution to this last "problem" may be easy ..... placing the interested addresses in the "hosts" file, and just for safety, program the firewall in your router for ban all the interested IPs from in and out calls, can be enough ..... ;)

It's as simple as not installing their OPTIONAL update :rolleyes: and even if you did, you can use that removewat program to get rid of it and reactivate. Microsoft obviously isn't TOO concerned or else they would have made a REAL fix for it by now. Their feeble attempts are quite laughable really.

I honestly think MS doesn't care. MS just gave away millions of free copies in the 3rd world nations, and other countries. I think its because he has to show he is doing something to prevent pirates to his stock holders. All his past efforts were useless too. I think he loves the idea that his software is on nearly every computer out there. Plus I'm sure money is not the issue anymore, its all ego now.
